I ordered this guitar based on the overall look and buyer reviews. I was not disappointed! The guitar plays great, sound quality is excellent to me, and the craftsmanship and finish is beautiful. Cosmetically, I simply changed the control knobs adding gold rims with onyx cap matching the gold hardware and grayish neck inlay.

    The Oscar Schmidt guitars are excellent for the money. They are made in China.I have two of them and there are two improvements I would like to see 1) put a better bridge on the guitar. The stock bridge is a cheap narrow tune-o-matic. A higher quality wider bridge (for better intonation) would be great, and 2) the width of the binding is not consistent. On my two guitars the binding gets very wide where the body meets the neck. It's more prominent on the Serpentine I purchased. So a closer eye on making sure the binding is consistent throughout is recommended. Otherwise, it's a solid guitar for under $300.
