About the Author

Marcel Westerlund believes in placing soul and spirit at the heart of his practice. As co-founder of a Swedish forensic research facility in 2001, and a Forensic and General Adult Psychiatrist, he has completed extensive training in medicine, psychotherapeutic techniques for issues surrounding alcohol and drugs, schizophrenia, and sexual violence. He was author of the first Swedish book on AIDS in 1985, Westerlund also received Life Between Lives training in the United Kingdom in 2006 and recently published his latest book, Afterlife.

Dr Westerlund has worked as a Forensic & General Adult Psychiatrist in Sweden for 8 years, and within the British National Health Service for 8 years, before continuing his career in Bermuda. In Sweden he worked on behalf of the National Board of Forensic Medicine, and was also for a few years head of the second largest psychiatric hospital in Sweden.

In England Dr Westerlund was the Lead Consultant for a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit at British University Hospital. In Bermuda Dr Westerlund has been working as the islands Forensic Psychiatrist. He has also covered learning disability, inpatient- and outpatient detoxification services the at Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute.

Dr Westerlund had extensive training in psychotherapy in Sweden. Since 2001 he has worked with hypnotherapy as an intensive psychotherapeutic tool in order to address and cure anxiety, depressions, obsessive-compuslive disorders, social phobia, severe grief and personality problems. "

Dr. Marcel Westerlund’s “Afterlife” tells how, through the use of hypnosis, patients are able to understand where their problems of today originate, and how that knowledge helps them move forward into a happier and healthier current life. Having read Dr. Michael Newton’s “Journey of Souls” and Dr. Brian Weiss’s “Many Lives Many Masters," I found “Afterlife” to be an excellent addition to the value of life between lives and past life regression therapy, and how beneficial it can be for so many of us. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to know more about what’s waiting for us after death and why we are the way we are today.

As one of the leaders in the field of Interlife work, our research department and general membership are always interested in new publications in this remarkable emerging field. The Author is known to us having training with our organisation for one week residential program in the UK in 2006 and took membership for a short while afterwards. Our approved training participants are all qualified and experienced Hypnotherapists who are required to have read the works of Dr. Michael Newton; "Journey of Souls" (JOS) published 1994, "Destiny of Souls" (DOS) published 2000 and "Life Between Lives Hypnotherapy" (LBLH) published in 2004. We continue to be inspired by personal stories of the afterlife and previous incarnations and it is clear from the author's stories that he too has felt that inspiration. Whilst passing reference is made to Dr. Newton's ground breaking work, there are a number of examples where the author has remarkable similarities to that of Dr. Newton's teachings without footnotes that denote the true source of the information. A list of these similarities by chapters follows:
We have stated the chapter title in the author's book followed in brackets by a chapter reference to the work of Dr. Newton, as per the abbreviations earlier in this review:

The second table on page 263 in "Afterlife" shows attributes associated with certain colours.
These have been shown below, though in brackets afterwards are those put forward by Dr. Newton on p174 of DOS published in 2000.

It is understandable that people who have studied with our organisation may be influenced by our ongoing research and the remarkable life between lives work of Dr. Michael Newton that evolved over 35 years and 7000 clients. The details as provided above, go beyond that which requires a passing reference and a single listing in a bibliography at the end of the book and in our view is not offered to the public with the integrity that they so deserve.
A redeeming feature is that beyond these human observations, more and more people are being inspired in their lives, by touching their divine essence... and awakening an understanding of their immortal identity.

I'm sure that I can't be alone in having felt that there must be more, and this book was just what I was waiting for!
Dr Westerlund truly does a fantastic job of exploring the part of humanity that goes beyond merely the physical, and left me feeling inspired and in awe after reading the book. A must read!
Finally some much needed evidence and support for something which I'm sure many of us have long suspected to be true - life after death!!

Whether you believe in life after death or not, you can't fail to be mesmerized by the stories in this book. Westerlund has opened something in his patient's souls that has gone on to heal them and that appears to be undeniable.
Well written and with scientific punch in the author, a definite buy.

This is a masterpiece by an eminent psychiatrist and philosopher. Many of us rely on religion, (or mathematics), when trying to understand the 'Afterlife', which of course means different things to different people. Dr Westerlund, has discovered a simpler method of exploring these realms - he just asks his patients to describe what they experience. And it works very well.

Amazing real patient accounts with a gifted psychiatrist, utilizing the exploration of their past lives to help overcome depression and anxiety. I have often wondered, but am now convinced that all of us carry our "previous selves" around and don't realize how that affects our "now" self. I was intrigued by each story!

Dr Westerlund reminds me somewhat of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, (In the nicest kind of way). By day he works as an experienced and highly professional doctor specialising in psychiatry; (I worked with him as a colleague for about 8 years). This review deals with what he seems to do outside the formal environment of a typical psychiatric practice.

He is an experienced hypnotherapist, and he has chosen to share his insights by writing a comprehensive work amounting to nearly 400 pages. The detailed transcripts of his sessions with his patients are thoroughly absorbing, and he gives accounts of their past lives, future lives and also of some interesting personal experiences of the realms beyond normal waking consciousness.

He goes on to speculate about a possible relationship between his observations and the findings of modern physics. While there will always be people who have minds that are closed to the possibility of there being any merit in hypnotherapy, anyone with an open mind will find much to reflect on here.
