I have several different brands of these, which I use to connect ssd drives to raspberry pi computers. This is the ONLY one that actually works; the others just crash the computer. Even the "official" one does not work, but this one works like a charm. I just wish the cable was a bit shorter.

Not a Perfect Fit for Atomos Caddies
This SATA to USB-C adapter is very nice. It doesn't perfectly fit Atomos caddies, but it does fit well enough, and the drive is recognized without a problem on my Mac.You can see in my pictures that the SATA end fits the SATA connectors through the Atomos caddy, but it doesn't plug all the way in due to the width of the SATA connector on the cable's end.But again, it works; so it serves its purpose.Pro Tip: Just be careful after you plug it into your computer, not to jiggle it or move it around too much to avoid disconnecting your drive while active, which could lead to corruption caused by accidental unplugging.

Well it works and yes it is Sata 3.1 but there are a few things that I did not like. First of all it tends to get very warm when it is being used. Second there is no LED to indicate that the drive is being accessed. There is a RED LED on the bottom that appears to indicate power. Lastly while the 20 inch cable may be adequate for use with a laptop it is a royal pain for a desktop with the USB3 connectors in the rear. If they had a 1 meter cable then this would be more suitable ... even better if it were a thin, flexible, braided cable.

The computer is an HP 8300 SFF (I7 CPU) and I using MB USB3 ports.
The operating System is Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia 64-bit with Linux 4.15.0-33 x86_64 kernel.
