I tested a few different models of USB Hub with Ethernet.
Some models require a special Driver in order to detect Ethernet.
However, this one worked out of the box. I was impressed.
It was detected as 10/100/1000 in Network Preferences in MacBook 12-inch Early 2015 model.
It has a green LED light on top and two Ethernet status LED lights on side.
Best of all, you don't need to plugin USB-C to USB Adapter just to plugin a Hub.
Nice design!

This is a nice product.

As an industrial controls engineer I spend a lot of my time connecting to industrial controllers, connections vary, many still use serial communications via a serial port but some have evolved and now offer Ethernet.

My work horse laptop has an Ethernet port on board, but as is often the case need to communicate with other devices on a separate Ethernet network hence the requirement for an additional connection.

My recognised both the USB Hub as well as the built in Ethernet connection with no issues without needing to install drivers.

The USB hub element worked as expected, as was able to recognise devices plugged into it seamlessly, given that it is not a powered hub, it may struggle with an USB powered external hard drive.

The Hub is USB 3 and therefore reaped the benefits of faster data transfer to my USB 3 devices, I also found it to be compatible with my USB 2 devices as well.

The RJ45 ethernet connection is a good fit and I found my Ethernet cables clicked into the socket positively.

I shall not bore you with the details of what I did to set the Ethernet port up to communicate with the industrial control suffice to say that the port supported all my needs and was able to communicate without issue and no drop outs.

As expected the ethernet port has indicator led's for the Ethernet connection status and data transmission, the port is 10/100/1000.

As my PC was bought specifically for industrial work, I ensured that it had an Ethernet port as standard but I am aware that may netbook style PC's do not have a port fitted, and this is an excellent way to get Ethernet functionality.

The other nice thing is that the hub is small enough to fit into a briefcase, backpack or handbag.

Build quality is excellent.

Recommended.

I never thought I would need ethernet connectivity anymore with WiFi being almost anywhere you go. But, just recently I found myself in that situation. I was staying at a friends house and he only had wired connection. NO WIFI!!! but with this I was able to plug in and use the internet on my laptop which saved me time and frustration from having to go to the store and buy him a router.

The data transfer speeds on this thing are also very fast. I was able to transfer gigabyte plus files in a matter of seconds using the new usb C connector. Another nice thing about the USB C is that it plugs an either way.

Overall I would definitely recommend. This is a great tool to connect to the internet and transfer files quickly.

The USB ports work as expected, but I lose the ethernet connection after waking the computer up from sleep. I have to reattach the hub in order for the ethernet connection to again.

edit: I downloaded the 10.10 patch and it resolved my issue with losing the connection.

I am a Systems Administrator, and the way I use my laptops I found that the new 12" MacBook with Retina Display was a perfect fit to replace my aging MacBook Air. The USB-C port is fine, but I already had a plethora of USB accessories that made my MacBook Air useful in all situations and now with the new port, I found myself a little anxious.

From time to time I need to plug into a switch directly to configure it, or I need to work in an area where there is no wifi (come on, it's 2015, why is this still a thing?). Enter the Anker USB-C to 3-Port USB 3.0 Hub with Ethernet Adapter. Just like my previous USB 3.0 hub/Ethernet adapter, this is plug and play - plug it in, the system immediately installs drivers for you, and within a few seconds you're ready to grab an IP address and go. The 3 USB 3.0 ports work great, and have plenty of bandwidth to do their thing thanks to USB 3.0's 5Gbps data transfer rate.

I keep saying that Anker has some of the best packaging in the business, and it's the truth. It is frustration-free, environmentally friendly cardboard which is easy to recycle, and it's always just the right size.

The design fits perfectly with the design language of my MacBook (although I did opt for the new Space Gray colorway), and it is much smaller than the last adapter I owned. One complaint is that the cable is about a foot in length, making it almost comically long. This device would be served much better with a shorter 4" cable in my opinion. If I could, I would probably remove a 1/2 star because of the long cable, but I can't and don't believe that it's worth docking a whole star, so we're left rounding up to 5 stars.

Another winner from Anker, this company just keeps them coming!
