From the creator of "Weeds" comes a heartbreaking and hilarious new series set in a women's prison. Based on Piper Kerman's acclaimed memoir, "Orange Is the New Black" follows engaged Brooklynite Piper Chapman, whose wild past comes back to haunt her and results in her arrest and detention in a federal penitentiary.
By far, Season 1 of the Orange is the New Black is the best out of all so far. My husband and I became hooked after few minutes into the first episode. It is funny and outrages at the same time. We watched the entire season in a matter of few nights.
What an insight to what prison is like for these women. Their stories are real. The characters are connective. The show is great. Never a dull moment. Laughs are there too. Their stories are so real that they just pull you in.
Ok, I am now starting this series from the beginning again. I dropped out initially when it was in season two and things got a little tense and I didn't like the direction I thought the show was going. I picked up again in season 4 and then realized I would have to go back and watch from the beginning again to see how those relationships had evolved. Very interesting theme and now I just love to watch and see how creative Chapman can be!
Liked the book. Like the TV series. Interesting to see how director needs to make changes, additional events, enhanced stories to adapt to dozens of hours of video. I also liked director's previous series "Weeds".
