So, figured out why the massager was turning on by itself. Apparently it shares IR codes with Vizio tv's, so certain buttons on the TV remote will interact with the massager (Up arrow = power, ok = program select). Funny enough though, the remote that came with the massager does nothing with the TV.

*Original Review*

Does the job, works out the kinks in my feet. I'll run it for 1 or 2 cycles (15 minutes each cycle), and my feet feel great afterwards. The remote is a gimmick, you can easily reach down and press the buttons to start and stop it, as well as select programs.

The programs...don't really do much. They are all very similar, none of the actual movements are different. The difference is how long before they cycle between forward rotation and backward rotation, and how long they will press on the sides of the feet.

Honestly, for this price, I was fine with using the 1 program that it came with. I use it nightly (I work in a restaurant, and consistantly walk between 10,000 and 25,000 steps (4 to 10 miles), 12-18 flights average), and the relief I get is worth what I paid for it.

One thing I did notice, sometimes the unit will turn itself on and run a program if left plugged in. For that, I took a star off. I have to unplug it when I'm done, and plug it back in when I want to use it. Not a huge deal, but I expect my electronics to stay off when they're off. Plus getting freaked out by the motor noise in the middle of the night wasn't fun either.

Time will tell whether or not this unit will last, but I sure hope it does.

I did not receive this unit for free, I paid for it.

I bought this to massage my calves because I have restless leg that keeps me awake at night. I like this massager but I wish it were a bit wider for your calves. I realize it's for feet and calf muscles and if it were wider it might not work as well for feet. However, the only way I can get it to massage my calves is by propping my feet up with pillows so that my calves fit into just the top portion of the massager. My calves are athletic but not excessively large (I'm a 5'10" female with an athletic build) and if I let my calves rest down into the massager the motor slows down and sounds like it's going to break because there's too much resistance on it. What I do like about this massager though is that it's affordable and (somewhat) dual purpose. It feels great on your feet, but I specifically bought it for my calves to help ease my restless leg at night. If they made a wider version specifically for calf muscles I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Miracle for Plantar Fasciitis!

I've battled plantar fasciitis in both feet, most recently one very stubborn case in one foot. I hobbled out of bed and could run through it no longer. A friend told me about THIS machine after suffering the same issue. It hurt at first A LOT! But if you have plantar fasciitis, the scar tissue needs to be kneaded out. I've paid a lot of money for physical therapy and this cost about the same as one visit. It may not work overnight, but patience pays off. I use it now to keep the scar tissue from reforming, but I'm back to running and walking pain free and waking up without hobbling.

The only reason for the 4 star rating is because I don't see any difference in the multiple control options. The remote works to turn it on and off. I can do that by bending over. The rest of the controls are useless.

This is nice and convenient for every day foot fatigue relief. It has side massagers on both side of the foot and rollers for the bottom of the foot. I have size 10 woman's foot with average width and there is room to spare. If you have an extra-wide foot, it may actually be too tight and cause some discomfort. I do wear my socks but I have tried it without. Wearing socks makes it smoother but I felt no real discomfort without my socks. I moved my foot forward and back on the massager to get into other areas. I have also turned it on end to get the back of my calves. That feels great too. The only draw back is in the instructions which are definitely written by someone who didn't have good english skills and the options are not what you are led to believe. It basically has only one movement and only changes in direction and speed. You can select Auto which runs through a variety of speeds or choose manual/custom to adjust it as you are using it. There are no changes in motion except to reverse it, no changes in the depth or degree of intensity. I still prefer the 'hands-on' type of massage but this is a good alternative for the end of the day and for my budget. It is a bit overpriced but it is saving me in the long run. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could. I do recommend it if you are on your feet all day.
