This is a first novel by the author, introducing the character Major Mike Elliot. It is nonstop action as terrorists hijack an Air France airliner departing from Tunisia loaded with family members of embassy personnel being evacuated. It moves between characters as you get the viewpoints of people on the airplane, on the ground in Lebanon and Cyprus, and back in Washington, DC. How do you thwart the plans of the terrorists, recue hostages with a minimum number of casualties, and find the mastermind behind the hijacking.

You get a side tour into the various forces operating inside Beirut and neighboring areas of Lebanon - an area wrecked by 30 years of fighting. You have action aboard the plane, on the ground in Lebanon, and on the ground in Cyprus, all leading to a blazing conclusion. There is a final epilogue to bring the surviving characters together. The door is left open for the future of Mike Elliot

I was hooked from the first paragraph. I am female and this is not the kind of book I usually read, but I could not put it down. It gives an amazing insight into the intricate planning, determination, execution and bravery that the US military and its supporting agencies are capable of. The development of the characters and descriptions of the sights, sounds and smells are so vivid that you almost feel like you were there. It's been a long time since I truly enjoyed a book as much as I did this one. It would make a great movie! Now just looking forward to the next one.

This took a long while to get rolling, but once it did, wow.

All the set up was necessary to understand the final action, and was interesting from a very clinical point of view. I'm used to more emotion in the books I read, but obviously for this genre you just can't. Not for every character. I did, however, tear up at the end for something that happened to Mike, and I was definitely on edge for the climax of the story.

This is not my usual genre, so I don't know how it compares to other books, but I can say I enjoyed this one quite a lot.

There were a few technical errors in the text that I couldn't help but flag, but none that really grabbed me and took me too far out of the story.

Well done, Lee Duffy.

For those of us who enjoy this genre of novels, I think we have a new 5 STAR author in the game! Lee Duffy is a name I think we will see over and again in future Mike Elliott adventures. The tempo Duffy sets is very effective in taking the reader emotionally up and down throughout. The narrative is interesting, believable, and exciting. I enjoyed this book every bit as much as I do all of the big-name, accomplished writers of novels involving contemporary world problems. No matter how trite it might sound, I really did have a hard time putting it down. My advice?: Try not to bend the pages as you'll want to share this book with others!

This novel is hot, sexy, and of our times. The characters are so real and tangible. You can smell them, see them, and hate them. The arising and opposing force trained, poised, equipment, global, and very ready. You race through the novel, every vicious twist and turn until after all the blood, death, destruction, as well as carnage finally comes to a head in victory. So many true to life-mental photos, an absolute must for a screen play. Lee Duffy has done all his homework putting this one together I promise. Lee Duffy don't leave us now. Next book please.

Good, easy and entertaining read. Unfortunate popular subject of the 1970's. The book was at first slow in developing characters, once that was underway, I enjoyed the anticipation of where it would all lead. Unfortunately, it ended very much as anticipated. Without a chance off allowing one's imagination to help formulate the conclusion. Over all good book

A very enjoyable book full of suspense and action. I usually do not care for books on war and terrorism but this story held my interest. Looking forward for more novels from this author and hope he continues with the same characters. I could also see this being made into a movie
