I order the Grip-Lock after looking around for an extra bit of security for my new scooter. The Grip-Lock works great. It's larger than I expected and comes in a plastic cylinder with 2 keys and some extra plastic bits to make sure it fits your hand grip.
Close to the hinge you can see a black rubber lining. These are removable and have 3 pieces with differing widths so you can remove them and mix and match your hand grip for a nice snug fit. The instructions state that you can glue these in place which I would suggest only when you are sure you have the right fit in place. They can fall out pretty easily when the lock is in your storage if it gets bounced around while you ride so just make sure to make sure you don't drop them on the ground you don't glue them.
Closer to the middle of the lock is a section where you depress your front brake and place it. This ensures that your wheel wont roll when the lock is on. It's adjustable as well in case you have tight brakes or maybe a different shape. I didn't have to adjust it at all from it's default position.
The keys are high quality and have "do not duplicate" on them so no one can swipe it and make a copy later.
The locking mechanism is high quality. You close the Grip-Lock in position and then push your key inward and twist it close. It makes it fool-proof to tell whether your lock is engaged or not.
One of the only issues I had is when unlocking. I made sure that my fit is tight so there is some pressure on the locking mechanism so I have to squeeze the whole Grip-lock just a bit to get it to unlock. I don't mind it at all because it make me feel like it's working quite well.
Overall the lock is heavy, high-quality feeling, and pretty easy to use once you find the right fit for your grip. It's also great if things slip your mind because you can't forget about the Grip-Lock like you can on wheel locks, so there is no danger of ruining your bike in an embarrassing incident of forgetfulness. The lock is also VERY visible, I got the yellow color and it stands out like a sore thumb. If for some reason a thief didn't notice it they would as soon as they tried to move the bike.
I don't think this lock replaces all other theft prevention so still try to keep your bike in a non-secluded area and use your steering lock like you normally should. It does add another great level of protection though and in my opinion worth the buy.

It Was Great for a Month
I bought this for use on a Piaggio scooter for added security when I park on a university campus several times per week. The lock worked great for about one month. Then, it become difficult to open up after unlocked. The column of the lock was loosening in the casing and the Grip-Lock was becoming difficult to open up. It took a lot of finagling to get the Grip-Lock to open up after it was unlocked. On the second day after the difficulties started, it would not open at all. The key worked in the lock. The lock popped out as it should but the Grip-Lock would not completely unlatch from my brake. It opened slightly but it would not open all the way like it would normally. Many attempts to re-lock and reopen it were made, but it was "stuck." I had to call for help and someone much stronger than me was able to finally get the Grip-Lock to unlatch. (We were almost at the point of using a tool to pry it open.) Upon opening, several pieces from the column of the lock fell to the ground. Of course, as luck would have it, that happened the day after the final day to return it to Amazon. I may have just received a faulty lock. It worked well for my needs, until it didn't.

The lock itself looks and works great and it is easy to use, but unfortunately I can t use it and that’s why I gave it 4 stars.
Maybe I could have made a notch with a file or something to make it fit in te lock but it would diminish the security level and I didn’t want to mess with that so I had to use a different type of lock

Even though this items works with handlebars from 1” to 1.5”, it doesn’t specify anything about the brake lever. Well, the brake lever on my 2016 Sportster 48 XL1200X is too thick for it to close completely and it won’t lock.Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2020
