Mystery, Drama, Sex, History, Facts - All in One Amazing Book

This book is such an interesting read! I have not read something that's gripped me like this in a while. It's easy to get completely caught up.

Heart racing, blood pressure elevated, palms sweaty, brain active and alert even though it was the middle of the night and I needed to put this book to down. Clearly, my body was having a physical response and emotional to this book depending on what the main character was going through.

I don't normally pick up mystery novels but I wanted to understand more about the London bombings. This book is so much more than just a mystery - it is part drama, part sex, part self-help, part history and facts. And it all comes together to make an intriguing story. It easy to become attached to the main character, the Detective Inspector. I was rooting for him, I wanted him to 'win', I learned so much from him. But, then he would really frustrate me with his Mommy-issues and substance abuse problems. I mean how can an intelligent, skilled, strong, manly-man like him, who is responsible for anti-terrorism, have so many female issues and substance abuse problems. You just want him to get his sh!t together in the evenings so he can kick some terrorist ass during the day. Soon, I realized that he was not weak, he just needs to escape from the day-to-day realities of his line of work. Things that a normal person wouldn't even know about, he sees, addresses, and resolves first-hand, often with minimal support and recognition.

I don't want to ruin the ending, but I was really pleased with how he handled things with the bloke at the end.
Finally, I am thrilled that I finally got to know the WHO and the WHY of the London bombings.
Go read this book people. You will enjoy it!

A good story and interesting to learn how leads are followed through. Did Jake have to be such a sexist and hope some the UK law enforcement officers are more responsible. I did read this before the Westminster tragedy and do believe that these lone wolf hits are difficult to stop. especially when they use vehicles. I would read another book by Mr Videcette and have asked to be advised when his next book is on kindle.

Wow! What a thrilling, edge of your seat read! Jake is a complicated and sad man; he regrets his actions and wants to do the right thing! The bombings that occur consume him as he tries to figure out why it happened. I love Jake and hope he finally finds peace of mind. BRAVO, David!!

I have watched American & British detective shows and read lots of thrillers, mysteries and police procedurals and as advertised Videcette tells a story that takes a peek under the hood of bureaucracy and slogging investigations complete with dead ends, misconceptions, floundering, focus, insight and blindness. I came right back and looked for his next book. Good news bad news, isn't one but there is one coming. Great read.
