Good Value - Thin Leads, Poor Organization
As other reviewers mentioned the leads on these resistors are very thin. The leads measure 13mils (0.013in) vs 21mils (0.021in) for other quarter watt resistors I have. You can use them in breadboards but just barely. I bought these when I want the precise resistor value at 1%. I will see how they hold up to mounting and soldering in through hole board projects. They are nicely packaged in small poly bags, but they are randomly mixed up and the label placement is inconsistent. The box is not useful for organizing as the bags must lay flat so you can't order them. The solution I found was to pack them and standing on edge with index labels as shown in the photo. I also reproduced the resistor chart and glued it on the inside lid. Another excellent supplier "Joe Knows" does this with a variety of their components. I will update this review in a few months and let you know how will I still like these.

Like I always say, "I've been 'doing' electronics both as a hobby and a profession for over 60 years".

Over the past couple years or so I'd let my "Bench Stock" of small parts dwindle down to the point where I HAD to do something about it, and with all the local RadioShack stores in this area having gone out of business, I couldn't wait any longer as I could no longer run down and buy an emergency part (and their parts selection had dwindled down a great deal anyway).

So the past 3-4 months I've been "stocking up" as finances allowed (bought several hundred dollars worth of parts and stuff recently).

Resistors are some of the most commonly used electronic components, I think even more so than capacitors, transistors etc. I ended up ordering 3 different resistor assortments.

This is the 3rd assortment I ordered (the first two were 1/2W and 1W assortments). This is an excellent assortment, the components are all 1% resistors, each in a separate bag that is identified.

My only COMPLAINT is that the bags weren't sorted by value in the box, but I'm NOT downgrading the rating because of that. It may have occurred in shipping, there are two parallel rows of plastic bags and they may have "slid together" in shipping.

I took all of the parts out of the box, made up a small cardboard divider down the middle to keep them straight, then sorted all the little bags by value.

I did check a few resistors from each bag for value with my Pro-quality DVM, all checked within 1%.

NOTE: I DID already have a bunch of 1/8W 1% resistors I bought from RS for pennies on the dollar when they closed. I combined those in with the ones in this kit and they DID fit in the box nicely.

Bottom line, a good assortment for either the beginner or the old timer alike.

In the past, whenever I needed a resistor of this or that value for a project, I would just go out and buy 100, or 200 (whatever quantity that the bags were) of that value and put the rest of what I didn't use with my resistor collection. That's a little bit pricey, but I've got a whole lot of the more 'used' values, in quantity, and they'll probably out last me. However, There are always some values that aren't used a whole lot, but come up here and there for a project.

This little kit fills in very nicely, all of the less popular values. How nice it is to have any value that you might need, without having to get on line and order a few more.

As one of the other reviewers commented, they're not in order. That's OK for me, I just sit down, and figured out how I wanted them to be and put them in the order I like anyway. I put all the values 1K-Ohm and less on the right, and all the other values greater than 1K-Ohm on the left. That worked out fine, with a nice balance on each side. There are a whole lot of values below 1K-Ohm, which makes it way easier to find something close to what you are looking for, or combine them to get super close,

It's not a heavy duty box, but we're not storing rocks here, and I think that with some care, it will last a long time.

For the price, you get like 25 resistors each of virtually every value. If I would have spent the same money on bulk resistor packages, at best, I would have had 8 or 10 values, and likely less, because some of the values come in 200 minimum packages and cost more.

If you're looking for a good resistor kit, this would be the first on my list. (I did subsequently add larger wattage kits, but I think that this is the overall best starter kit that I've seen!). And for less than $20 ... Wow! Super Deal!

I only needed a few resistors to install some vehicle remote start / security systems, but it was well worth buying this kit for the price, instead of just a few resistor values needed at the time. Has lots of popular values, and plenty of each. Each set of resistors are in easy to read bags, and they all fit in the case nicely. They did not arrive in order in the case, so I took each bag out, and organized them in order of ohms.

Just an fyi, I've even had some of their 10-ohm resistors read almost 11ohm, which is off by nearly 10%. Or the 47-ohm readying about 49 in most cases. And this is reading with a fairly accurate multimeter with 11M impedance. It's worked mostly fine for all my projects, but they really should have advertised these as 5% or 10% tolerance resistors.

This is a pretty good deal, 1% resistors, all in neatly marked little zip-lock bags. My big surprise was the color coding. I am very used to 5% resistors, where you have 2 digits plus # of zeros. So 1-9.9K is always red on the 3rd stripe. 10K-99K is orange. 100K-999K is yellow, etc.

I figured a 470K resistor would be similar in 1% as in 5%, you know, yellow, violet, black (for the 3rd digit) and yellow (for 4 zeros after 47.0) or 47.0 x 10000 = 470K. NOPE. It's yellow, violet, black, ORANGE, for 470 + 3 zeros.

Well, what do you know. Duh. Blows up my familiarity with the "range" color. I'm sure I'll get used to it... :)

Great value. Lots of resistors. Of course many values I will never use, but such is life.

This selection of 1% 0.25W resistors is a wide selection not a pile of a dozen values in 100piece bags. If you read about E-series values you see these follow E24 values approximately but are at 1% not 5% as E24 is ought to. 24 multiples per a range starting with 1 to 9.9, 10 to 99.9.... (assuming 99.9). I count 22 in multiple ranges which is great considering the price. I know all these resistors are coming from the same type and model machines that make the same thing or from the same company. Your quality will be good depending on how these resistors were handled and if the operator operated that machine right (color codings, etc.). We live in a new world. The Chinese can make resistors but I still want finicky capacitors (they all are in electrolyte) from Japan.
