I've been baking cookies for over 46 years and never knew how much easier this could make things. The last few years I've been having terrible arthritis and neuropathy in my hands, so I've been adding some tools to my kitchen that might make things a bit easier. This little gadget is by far the best thing I've bought! I can't believe how fast I can scoop out the cookie dough now, especially the recipes that call for you to refrigerate the dough. Not only that, the cookies are all the same size now, and bake up nice and evenly. I guess you're never to old to learn something new.
I don't know how long this will hold up, but it seems very durable and is comfortable in my hand. Hubby is happy too, cause now I will bake cookies more often!

This silly thing is a joy to use at the holidays. I had no idea how much I would like having uniform cookies. I love to bake cookies and to make gelato. This scoop, which holds a bit more than a tablespoon, is the perfect size for cookies- about a 1” ball. Best part is how easily it releases. The little “wiper blade” really works to plop dough exactly where you want it. I used to hate this part of making cookies, because it’s hard to get uniformity and to keep your fingers out of the dough. This gadget lets me have perfect little rounds without touching the dough.
The quality, precision and weight of this tool seem good. I’ve had it for months, run it through the dishwasher without a thought, and it appears as good as new.

I love all of my other OXO products and usually trust them to produce the most reliable kitchenware. However, this one broke after I scooped out two cookies and was just useless. The bottom gear got stuck and the scraper piece would only go 1/3 of the way (the last part). Then it would protrude from the scooping bowl and get stuck in that position until I squeezed the lever a few more times and it would return back to the 2/3 spot. If I held the squeeze handle down while scooping, the scraper would get stuck again and I'd have to squeeze three more times to unstick it but it would never do a complete scrape. Trying to send back for a refund--I'm going to go for a different company's disher type scoop (solid handle with small lever for the scraper) instead, which just seems like a smarter and sturdier design.
