I was very surprised by this drive. I was looking for an affordable drive to use for game/app installs. Normally I would go Samsung but I figured why not give these a try due to the price point. I have been using them for about 6 months now and the speeds has been consistent with no issues. I recommend.

Great upgrade and reasonable performance.

This is the best upgrade I've made and the performance is really outstanding. This was bought for a laptop that came with a stock 1TB WD Scorpio HDD. I've had it for about 3 years now and I started to notice the performance go down with the HDD. Not that this laptop is a beast spectical wise but I began having issues with freezing and having to reboot when things didn't load properly. The upgrade was simple and I decided to do a fresh install instead of the cloning. I haven't had the best experience with the Acronis Imaging software that comes with SSD's. Older versions of Acronis use to clone like a dream but these new ones I'm not so sure. I had a choice between this drive and the MX200 Crucial 500GB. I use the MX200 at work but after comparing prices I couldn't justify shelling out the extra funds for some "enterprise" features I knew I wouldn't use. I chose to go with the PNY and am happy I made the decision. My boot times are now about 2 seconds or less. It's kind of shocking as I was use to waiting with my old HDD for it to just get past the BIOS boot screen. I notice that opening applications are snappy and I'm not seeing a degrade in performance as I have multiple applications running at the same time. I do warn you though to make sure you do any BIOS updates you need to perform for your machine and make sure you have all your manufacturer drivers installed. I missed a driver for my machine and it caused a BSOD. Once I got the correct driver installed I haven't had the issue since. I'm running Windows 10 Ed (From Windows 8.1 Pro to 10 Pro to 10 Ed) and sometimes 10 can pull in the wrong drivers. It's very rare but it happens every now and then. If you're in the market for a SSD, need reasonable space and a nice price point don't pass this up. You won't regret it. At the time of purchase I caught a deal on the price due to Amazon adjusting their price to compete with another retailer that has egg in their name.

SSD went bad in less than 6 mo.

Pro:
Faster than my older SSD

Cons:
Bought it in July 28, 2016 and it was working fine until the last 3 months.
SSD could not get detected after soft reset, it can only be detected with hard reset that too intermittently failed.
Swapped SATA cable with known working one and new SATA cable without any luck.
Moved the SATA port on the motherboard, still having the same issue.
SATA driver update also didn't resolve the issue.
Left and set the SSD as the only HDD on the computer, still having the same issue.
Plugged the old SSD (Seagate 256GB) and it's working fine.

I have contacted customer support, but no reply. I hope I can reach out to the customer support here. Thanks!

Great price, good performance.

Greatly improved the performance of an old laptop, boot time greatly reduced and application load time was almost instantaneous. Very good investment to extend the live of a dell laptop.
This is the 3rd SSD from PNY that I am using today, two MLC and one TLC SSD. I am very satisfied with the PNY products.
Since the old laptop has only SATA II interface, I am not expecting the full performance of this SSD, I could have go with a cheaper TLC model. However, consider the extra year warranty and the longer life expectancy of a MLC drive vs. a TLC drive, and the price difference is not that much, I decided to go with this drive. So far, very happy with it.

Failed after a year and support is terrible

It started to failed randomly after a year. When it failed, my laptop cannot find the boot device or a blue error screen shows up when I'm using windows 10. I contacted the support via email after filling some information at PNY's support website. The person asked me for the same info a few times and ask my order receipt twice. Finally he/she agreed to issue a RMA for me. However, they will only send me a replacement after I sent out the failed one. I asked for a replacement first before I sent out my current one and the support don't answer my email any more. This is ridiculous. If I don't have a replacement in hand first, how can I copy my current file over and also clone the booting image? Not to mention I have to buy a disk clone software to do that since they didn't offer any free tool to do the clone.

I won't buy any PNY products any more and won't recommend anyone to buy their products.

Great drives...

Great drive!
I got the 480G at $134.99, and the price promptly dropped to $129.99.

At either price, it was a deal, and will be my go-to drive for any PC build where drive speed matters to me.

Unfortunately the 240G and 480G have since jumped in price (+10&15 dollars respectively)

Honestly, they are still great drives, and worth it at this price,
but they don't stand out head and shoulders as the 'fast drive bargain' that they were at the lower price point.

Standard hard drives can be infuriatingly slow, and my friend was a victim of that. This SSD is a great upgrade for people on a budget like him. I bought this for him and he is loving his 10 seconds cold boots with Windows 7 and 3 second load times with CS:GO. I got another one for myself and I use it as my main drive for my HTPC desktop. Windows 10 Boots up around 8 seconds after the BIOS. This SSD doesn't come with fancy things like mounts or software so this is very bare-bones.

Any casual person or gamer looking for an upgrade this is a great choice. Installation is simple and you'll see the difference as clearly as day and night! This is the perfect drive to add to a laptop. I've been loving my choice of upgrade and I'm sure you will too.
