"Once I begin reading Dreadlands I couldn't stop. The words demand your attention. The plot demands your observation. I love the characters interaction! Although it may seem as if the element of surprise will not be a component quite often in this book it truly is. The lore in Dreadlands is strong and remains powerful throughout the entire story. Now I don't want to spoil anything for those of you who have yet to pick up your copy (That was your kind reminder to do so.)

The lines are well delivered and the story is well paced. I felt like a detective and if you are anything like me then you will get a thrill out of the "I was right!" moments you will recieve while it not being painfully obvious. This book quickly became one of my favorites and Jamie Engle is such an amazing soul. She definetly knows how to reel the readers in! If you're a fan of Sci-fi, Fantasy and Lure then you will love Dreadlands. (I am still speechless!) Your jaw will drop and your eyes will grow wide but you'll have to read to truly feel the element of surprise."

Jaimie Engle writes award-winning stories with a magic touch in books, tv, film and comics. With more than a dozen published books, she is a seasoned storyteller who has taught at national conferences, state libraries, and local schools on writing, publishing, and marketing books. In 2021, she began writing for film & television and sold her first feature film JUST JAKE with distribution deal through UPTv Faith & Family Network. She novelized the book and sold it to Vinspire Publishing.

Several of her tv scripts, based off her published work, are in shopping agreements and development with several major producers and networks. Jaimie Engle weaves a fantastic yarn of two siblings, thrust out into the world and forced to survive against not only the elements, but tenacious werewolves who seek their blood.

But Arud and Lykke aren't the only ones trying to eek out an existence in the werewolf strewn Dreadlands. I found myself drawn into Jaimie Engle's fantasy world from the first page. Her characters are well-defined, her narratives are engaging, and the plot is thrilling! She blends just the right amount of action, suspense, and drama to keep you running right alongside Arud, Scalvia and Lykke through the adventures of their lives. Amidst Viking lore and shape-shifting wolves, Engle tells an epic tale of family, bravery, and maturity. Be prepared for your heart to pound with excitement, stop from shock, break with misery, and then start all over again with the hope that all will be right with the world. I really enjoyed this book and I plan to share it with my teenage son. Can't wait for the next installment!

Don't be, because Engle's Dreadlands is a page turner that takes that classic story of young adults discovering who they are and sets it amongst a well-realized world of adventure, lore, darkness and light. This book is a fusion of different corners of the fantasy genre that feels like the opening chapter of a much larger saga. You will wish the book was longer and will count the days for part 2.

Welcome to the Realms of Vithalia. We have many interesting characters in Arud, Lykke, Scalvia, Vang, among others. The way the author Jaimie Engle wrote the story is easy to read and understand. I really liked the prose. It was simple. The themes of love, family, never turning back no matter how bad things get and fighting against fate were some themes in the book. Arud and Lykke’s relationship really appealed to me and was what kept me interested in the story through the book, to be honest. I could say a lot of things about Toov or Ahlgren but I don’t want to give spoilers. I’m interested to know what stories the season of Myrkr’s prophecy has to tell. Dreadlands: Woolf Moon is a story I would like to see as a movie. I think it would be a great hit with the public if it ever came out. I don’t know what else to add without giving spoilers.

Now I have to mention the elephant in the room. This story has some issues that I don’t agree with, which were mentioned in my comments as I was reading. That’s not to say that I didn’t like the book, on the contrary I was thinking of giving it four stars for that, but in the end when I evaluated everything from the story, personalities, places, and themes I realized that my bias for the story and the characters led me to give it five stars. If I had to give you a reason to read this book. It would be one that if you are a reader who likes a story that focus on the characters, and not a story with characters, this book is for you. I can’t wait for the sequel.

This is a wonderfully good young adult read, a fast paced story about a brother and his younger sister who are sent away, alone, from a village where they lived in an atmosphere of naivety, into the unknown where ferines with changeling wolf-like characteristics dwell and attack with a ferocity that could end the world as this brother and sister know it. Little do they know what their very own bloodline contains as they journey to find an uncle they have never met who lives in a city to which they have never traveled. All the while, they are being hunted by ferines who wish them harm. The siblings are aided by curs - creatures created by the blending of human and ferine. At least that is how it first appears, until they are double crossed. As the tension grows, they don't know who to trust, and brother even comes to doubt his own sister and her intentions. It is a thrilling adventure, one that takes unexpected twists and turns, with a thrilling conclusion that you won't see coming. Nicely, and cleanly done.
