Steamborn series book 2 of 3.
The threat of war and destruction rages on.
A steampunk dystopian that includes Jacob and Alice in the mid teens, as well as a generation of adults, Samual and Charles, that were around when much of the technology was created.

Starts immediately after the first book in the series. Can be read as a standalone but it’s not the end of the story, so best read as a set. I say that because it’s been more than two years since I read the first book and found it easy to follow along. I listened to the audio version at 1.25x narrated by Saskia Maarle who did a fantastic job with voice differences.

This book is captivating and full of action. It’s also full of death and danger so beware.
Lots of bugs. Some friendly and humongous, some small and extremely poisonous. Some crunchy and delicious.
The expanded world in this book makes the adventure that much more intensifying.

I have added book 3 to my tbr.

It is rare that the sequel is as good as the original, but that's what you get with this book. The story picks up immediately where the first book leaves off and a journey that was already filled with danger becomes more perilous and full of major plot twists. Beware, the plot armour is not as thick in this series as you might expect! I was continually surprised by the twists and turns of the story, and it was all I could do to set it down to do all of those non-reading life activities that are expected of us. If you liked the first one, you'll like this one too, and you'll have to read the third. And yes, it's totally worth reading too!

My first experience with Eric Asher’s writing is through his Vesik series and his writing has developed a lot since the beginning of that series (it’s definitely a good read). This is definitely a much more developed series- I love the world he’s built and the storyline pulls you in completely. Having read all of these I’m definitely hoping for more.

Invading bugs broke down the walls and escape to the highborn was the only way they could survive however a nasty jealous group wanted the lowlands back to their work Joseph and Alice overheard them talking escape was their only option as they began spreading rumours that Joseph and Alice were to blame. I'm recommending this book its fun and serious at the same time
