Good kit but...
It's a great kit but I'll give it 4 stars because of the case, it's an ok case but the top part is a bit warped and it doesn't close well (it's loose) because of the arc, so I'm sure it will be falling off a lot, also it's supposed to be wall mountable but all they did was to add 2 holes to the back, the problem with that is that if you want to remove the SD Card you'll have to remove the Pi from the enclosure (since the SD Card will be extremely close to the wall), so for anything that you want to do, that requires moving the Pi away from the wall you will have to unmount it from the enclosure (or unscrew it from the wall). Also if you want to solder pins into the "Run" header you'll have to cut a piece of plastic and one part of the plastic is thick so it may be a bit difficult without the right tools. My suggestion for a future version is to fix the warped "top" issue, leave a hole for the header and make it possible to unmount from the wall easily (with a big hole - small hole and protective plastic behind, you know those mounts). This won't affect my calification but there are some aesthetic details that I didn't like, for example if I mount it to a wall, I would probably want to have the USB and Ethernet cables hanging down, but if I do that, the Pi logo will be rotated the other way around, so one suggestion would be to make it able to mount the "top" part boths ways around (which for some reason you can't).Something curious about the top part is that when mounted, all the text under it is backwards related to the Pi logo, so makes me believe that originally the logo was backwards. The case has 2 small "engraved" holes where the previous versions of the Pi had the status LEDs and they are marked "act" and "pwr" but where the Pi 3 has the LEDs there are 2 holes without markings or engraving (the holes are not exactly on top of the LEDs), which makes me feel like this is just the Pi 2 case modded for the 3, but I have no problem with that.Other than that, the Pi 3 is great, I use it as a web server, and the power adapter works. The heatsinks get pretty hot sometimes (and therefore the chips) so I'm glad the kit included them.

Diving into the world of Raspberry Pi can be both exciting and a tad overwhelming. When I decided to embark on a few DIY tech projects, I was on the lookout for a comprehensive kit that would provide a hassle-free start. The CanaKit Raspberry Pi 3 Kit was a recommendation I received, and after several projects, I can vouch for its excellence.

The kit arrived neatly packaged with all components securely placed. The Raspberry Pi 3 board was the star of the show, boasting impressive specs for such a compact device. But beyond the board, the other components in the kit truly elevated the experience.

The premium clear case is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional. It offers a clear view of the board while providing ample protection. The design allows for easy access to all ports, ensuring that connecting peripherals is a breeze.

The inclusion of the 2.5A power supply was a thoughtful touch. It's UL Listed, ensuring safety and reliability. Throughout my usage, the power supply has been consistent, with no unexpected shutdowns or fluctuations.

Setting up the Raspberry Pi with this kit was straightforward. The accompanying guide was clear and concise, making the process smooth even for someone new to the Raspberry Pi ecosystem.

One of the standout features of the Raspberry Pi 3 in this kit is its performance. Whether I was using it for coding projects, media servers, or even retro gaming, the device handled tasks with ease. The connectivity options, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, added to the versatility, allowing for a range of applications.

In conclusion, the CanaKit Raspberry Pi 3 Kit is a blend of performance, convenience, and reliability. It offers everything one needs to dive into the world of Raspberry Pi projects. Whether you're a seasoned tech enthusiast or someone just starting out, this kit promises hours of exploration, learning, and fun. Dive into a realm where technology meets creativity, and the possibilities are endless!

I highly recommend getting this kit for at least your first Pi. It has everything you need (except the SD card) to get you going. Just having everything all together makes getting started a breeze. I also like the idea of not including the SD card so you can get a larger one for the same price as the pre-loaded one. Downloading the NOOBS software and copying it to the SD card is so easy I cannot figure out why someone would want the pre-loaded version. (Unless, of course, you do not have an internet connection.) Just be aware that there is a huge difference in the load options available to you when you are connected to the internet versus what you will just see on the card itself. I highly recommend doing a wired internet connection when you are doing an initial load.

The only down-side I see to this kit is the case. The top does not close completely for air circulation, but it also does not "snap" in the "closed" position so the top can come off far too easily. But, now that I have had it for a while I realize that you really don't touch it much so this seems less of a concern than when I first set it up.

This is a bit difficult to review since the "product" here is the CanaKit and not the Raspberry Pi itself which clearly deserves 8 stars on a 5-star scale. If Linux worked this smoothly on all other platforms it would have a far larger audience than it does today. My main reason for getting this unit was that I needed to replaced a failed print server and the two units I tried for replacements failed miserably as well. My Pi has been a rock-solid print server since the day I loaded it up. And, what a kick being able to use it as a full-fledged LAMP server as well. This whole experience has been way beyond my expectations. (Just be aware that the current Raspbian release is Jessie, so only use web articles that specifically reference Jessie in their instructions. Many articles reference older releases and there have been definite changes to Jessie. This is especially true for setting a static IP address for the Pi.)

But again, I highly recommend the CanaKit as a convenient well priced way to get your first (or replacement) Pi units.

The kit arrived as-ordered. Case fits perfectly, and allows access to all needed jacks. I've set this up with OctoPrint to run a Lulzbot Mini 3D printer remotely via WiFi, and free up my laptop from being tethered to the printer. After watching a few YouTube videos on set-up, it's now up and running fine. My only minor complaint was that while the heat sinks were included, there were no directions on what to do with them. However, once I opened up the package and looked, it was obvious. I do recommend putting the board in the lower case, and putting the inner cover over the board before installing the heat sinks. That way, you can make sure that the location of the heat sinks will not interfere with getting the inner cover in place.

[EDIT] The Pi kit has been up and running fine for a couple months now. I did just notice some issues with the included power supply: the Raspberry Pi "lightning bolt" icon was coming on fairly regularly. This is an indication of a low voltage situation. I tested the power supply with a couple of other USB devices. Some of them would not charge with it attached. I emailed CanaKit describing my problem and within a couple hours they responded and are sending me a replacement. Kudos to CanaKit for the prompt response and excellent, no-hassles customer service!
