Great product and great seller!
i use these uth pads for heating reptile enclosures , and the quality is great .Remember always use a thermostat to control the heating pad, and dont ever sandwich a probe from a thermostat in between the uth pad and the tank-this will cause unwanted air pockets to form and diminish the adhesive . i put my probe right inside the tank taped to the floor of the tank(flextape) right above the center of where the uth is, then i put a paper towel over the probe, then the bedding/substrate , not using a thermostat can cause unwanted harm to your animal
**if you are having trouble applying the uth pad, ask yourself these questions below
-------
1. did you stick it on a clean and dry surface (wiped down with isop alchl) ? contamination on the tank can cause adhesives to not stick properly .
2.did you stick the pad on the bottom of a tank or tub (plastic) ? most uth pads are not designed for plastic tubs, if tubs are used they need to be taped down with flex tape. (even with flex tape , uth applied to plastic tubs can bow or warp towards the middle, causing a non uniform, unreliable heat transfer.
3. Did you apply it , then flip the tank over and smooth out the air bubbles? all uth heating pads need to be firmly pressed against the tank , and then the tank turned upside down so you can apply more direct pressure for smoothing out air bubbles, while smoothing out air bubbles, every now and then flip it right side up so you can actually see through the bottom of tank and determine if the uth pad is proportionally applied, you can see which areas need to be more smoothed out/applied with more pressure.
Zoo Med the makers of this uth pad, made a very nice instructional video on how to do this, i believe you can find the video on utube.
4. tank needs to be atleast a quarter of and inch to a half an inch raised above the surface it is sitting on. this is for safety of you and the animal. uth pads are not meant to be placed in a scenario where the tank, and the weight of the tank is resting/pressing constantly on the uth pad.
hope this helps.
