This new unit is great!! The new version is much better than the old version. This new version does a great job and seems to hold the seals much better than before.

What you get is a one piece unit that is fully assembled with all posts and connections tightened and ready to go. All you have to do is attach the silicone hose (acts like the beer dip tube) to a threaded stem at the underside of the tab cap. The hose simply inserts over the threads and provides a good beer seal. A stainless steel weight should be added to the base of the hose to ensure the hose stays at the center (like a pendulum) of the growler to minimize waste.

You have to be careful with pressure here. DO NOT OVER PRESSURIZE THE GROWLER or you will be drinking foam instead of beer. I would recommend you use the escaped gas from the beer to start your first pour and NOT add Co2 as there is less headspace in a full growler. When the pour slows add Co2 WHILE POURING If using the Co2 cylinders. If you will have this connected to a regulated Co2 line in a kegerator, keep pressures below 8lbs in a 4l and below 4 lbs in a 2l growler.

This tap cap works very well for force carbing beer or other beverages like water or fruit juice. 10 to 15lbs of regulated Co2 pressure and 10 minutes of vigorous shaking will provide good carbonation. Shake less time at higher pressure for lower sugar content beverages like water or beer.

Weekend Brewer, you are my new friend! I bought two things from their store and they both came in today. They are both much better made than I would have ever expected! If you'll notice in the attached pictures, this item weighs in at nearly a pound of stainless! It's impressive, all solid stainless, Perfectly milled, no sharp edges, nothing cheap or plastic. The sealing o rings, seem to be made of red high temp o ring material, which it simply sweet, sweet overkill! Solid stainless ball lock fittings that are completely serviceable, if the o rings in side begin to leak or the spring have issues. It does have a pressure relief valve, that as I understand it limits you to 30 pounds per square inch, but I wouldn't trust the keg growlers above 30 PSI anyway.

The main body of this item is milled from a solid piece of stainless with just three holes drilled through for liquid, gas and the pressure relief valve. It comes with a piece of vinyl tubing long enough to reach the bottom of a 128 ounce keg growler and can be cut if you want to use it in a 64 ounce growler. I would assume you could just let the excess just roll up in the bottom of the 64 ounce growler if you plan on switching back and forth.

Now, if you're wondering why you might really need this item, think about this, you can't can your home brew (Probably). So you're probably kegging or bottling. You can't take either near a beach or pool. You can fill a one gallon growler with a batch of great home brew (or get a bar to fill it) and take it almost anywhere, without building a jockey box or toting around a sixtel around with you, It's easy to find a ball lock setup with a carbon dioxide dregulator that accepts BB gun cartridges and has a picnic faucet. I have a love hate relationship with this thing. It's so freaking cool that I can over look it's few flaws. It fits perfectly on my 64oz mini keg. The included tubing is long enough for the 128oz keg so I cut my a bit to fit my smaller keg. Also unexpectedly included was a picnic tap and quick disconnects! There wasn't any tubing to connect the picnic tap to the connector however but I was using my own tap anyway directly connected to a disconnect and you can pickup tubing at your local homebrew shop. I found my liquid disconnect had trouble fitting on the post and was an extremely tight fit. Interestingly the included disconnect fits just fine and I can't find any difference between them. I also had to tighten the post a few times as the weight of my tap seamed to loosen it over time. Then there's the foaming it's had to avoid with such a small keg and dispensing right off the post doesn't help at all. I would suggest sticking with a picnic tap with a good length of smaller diameter tubing. This will keep the dispensing pressure at the tap lower and reduce foaming. and keep the co2 as low as possible.

The learning curve is a bit steep so test it out with a few cans of bud before filling it with that expensive IPA. But once you get it dialed in you'll love it and be prepared to show it off because if you bring it to a party everyone will want to try it out!

The product works well with my 64 oz stainless steel kegs. Too bad I can't find a regulator attachment to view the amount of CO2 that I'm injecting into the vessel. I over did it on one of my kegs and the beer didn't taste right.

The Stainless Steel Mini-Keg Tapping System by The Weekend Brewer (Double ball lock) is so great and a must for those who like to share their beer. I took this on a weekend trip and it was great so easy so simple. this is the first time I didn't have to carry a small brewery with me. This thing makes life so easy and I am so happy with it. This makes it so simple just grab a keg charger and a picnic tap and your already to go. I just tossed a few 12 gram Co2s in my bag and had a few mini kegs filled and I was the hit of the party. Now I can travel easily and share all my beer and even homemade soda. I plan on buying another one when I can so I can have two complete beer SET UPs This one's a keeper and I have told all my friends about it. You won't regret buying this mini keg system.
