The Arduino board worked flawlessly for me. It integrated with the Arduino IDE with no issues. The connectors seemed to be good quality- I had no issues with them.
The breadboard connections seemed a little looser than others that I've used, but they were fine functionally for the projects I did.
I worked through all of the projects in the zip file that I downloaded. I was able to complete them all successfully, and was able to use the IDE to make some improvements to the sample code. There is a superabundance of resistors in the kit - 120 resistors in seven different sizes. The samples only used ten resistors total, and eight of them were 220 Ohm. There also more LEDs than needed for the samples, so you can feel free to blow a couple up if you forget the resistors. Aside from the that, the kit included a nice variety of simple components, along with a photoresistor that wasn't used in the samples as far as I could see.
The variety of the samples was sparse (I could only find 8), but a curious experimenter could have some fun trying to mix and match techniques based on the samples. However, for kids, more samples would have been nice.
The documentation suffers from being written by folks who are not native English speakers, but it is not as bad as other kits I've used. I'm used to documentation like that, but it can be a bit confusing for kids. Fortunately most of the pictures are clear, with the exception of one or two places where pin markings were hard to read.
Overall, I enjoyed the kit and was impressed by what I got for $20.
The only con I have with this kit is the sturdiness of the USB wire, which ends up lifting and dragging the UNO R3 along with it when trying to plug it into my computer. As well, the breadboard may be small if you'd like to try bigger projects by yourself. Nevertheless, these things don't bother me considering the cost.

I have purchased several of these controllers as a stand-alone and in a kit. The kit makes it an excellent choice for beginners and is at a great price point. For a few dollars difference, I have started purchasing the kit for all of the extra electronic hardware.
This is an excellent tool for beginners, all the way up to the highly advanced. As far as development, this controller adheres to all of the standards of the official UNO, so there is virtually no difference and any documentation you find on the Arduino and ADAFRUIT websites apply to this controller without any changes.
Breadbord? Meh. Gets the job done.
Decent mix of LEDs, switches, resistors, and whatnot.
Jumpers? Those things suck. Pins so small they don't make a good connection to either the board or the uno. Even /think/ about breathing in its general direction, and something is going to flicker. This one item makes this kit useless as anything more than a child's toy by itself without also buying a separate jumper kit or spools of wire.

The included manual and example code (which I downloaded from the Elegoo website) works fine too. I think the manual could have a better layout for the sake of readability, but the content is fine. The manual is a bit short, but it's understandable considering the limited number of components included in the kit.
I would definitely recommend this kit to someone who just wants to find out what Arduino is about and perhaps wants to buy more components to play with later on.
