Getaway to Murder: A Cozy Mystery in the Mountains (Book 3)
Leo Loams is a sensation. Gentle and loving, with a sharp eccentric air about him, he’s got an army of followers who swear by his book on knowing oneself through psychology. He's also got a multi-million dollar contract from a big four publisher, and a loyal group of devotees who owe him their success and their lives.
Victoria Armstrong believes less in psychology and more in hard work, and she’s glad to cater for Leo’s getaway at the historic Larch Luminary Hotel. Her business needs his business!
All is not what it seems, however, when Leo turns up dead! In the midst of the tragedy, a heavy snow storm hits the mountain. The road is impassable so no one can leave, and the RCMP can't make it in. With tensions mounting and the killer on the loose, Victoria must solve the mystery.
Could it be the bull-like gym owner with his long-burning flame for Leo's secretary? Or maybe it's the seductive real estate agent with his flaring temper and recent business losses. Maybe it's the dreamy secretary herself, with the anger that simmers under her air of helplessness?
But why kill Leo? One of his followers has taken fate into their hands, and as more bodies pile up, it's up to Victoria to figure out who!

About the author

Liz lives in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies with her husband Rick and Golden Lab, Abbie.
She's had a lifelong penchant for mysteries of all kinds. As a girl, she loved reading Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys stories before graduating on to Agatha Christie books. Figuring out who the culprit was always seemed to capture her imagination. Now she enjoys writing mysteries herself.
Not content to stay in one genre, she has written novels in mystery & suspense/romance and most recently - cozy mysteries.
When she's not writing she can be found hiking, camping and enjoying the great outdoors.

I get tired of the same old mysteries that call themselves 'cozy mysteries' that are about the same old thing, usually a woman and her quirky friends or relatives with so many quirky characters that it gets to be banal. Give me a good 'whodunit' and I'm happy.

I thought Victoria was a very strange character, ignoring tears from individuals in the group when their friends had been murdered, asking questions when the officers had arrived to investigate, and actually commenting "what a pity! She was a valuable witness" to Simon when they discover the body of Ava, one of his employees.
When the murderers had been identified we were told they had given the murdered man Valium, waited until he was sufficiently drugged then pushed him through a window and all this was supposed to happen within 15 minutes. A drug given by mouth would not have worked this quickly.
I thought this book was amateurish at best and won't be reading any more by this author.

The job at the Lodge wasn't her favourite type but her sister more or less bullied her into it and the organiser told her she was the perfect choice.
Her first day of the weekend scheme ended with the organiser dead, the other attendees at each others throats and a dead maid. The dead man had gathered a group of hurt souls around him and had ruled them with an iron hand. Then the lawyer of the group was found dead! With a blizzard raging she doesn't expect her favourite law enforcement officer. Now the question is which of the six remaining people is the killer? Can she work it out before an innocent is arrested?
