Sitting down to read this book, I wasn't sure what to expect. My wheelhouse is typically some sort of murder mystery or thriller; think Gone Girl meets Alex Cross and I'm hooked. A book about a kid getting superpowers? I wasn't sold but someone whose opinion I value highly recommended the book to me. And I loved it. It was extremely well-written and kept me hooked the entire time. The internal struggle this poor kid goes through as he tries to deal with the hand he's been dealt was great - and when he finally is able to share a piece of himself, I lost it. Bawled like a baby on the plane (in a good way).

Potential Spoiler: I would love to see the interaction with Claudia told from her side in a short story - I can't imagine what that would be like, but I think it would be amazing!

I'm thrilled I took a chance on this book and will absolutely read the next installment in this series.

Highly intelligent view into the human condition. The author is one of many (I hope) becoming aware that our society is arguing over superficialities instead of directly addressing the people causing the problems in the world. Common sense has been absent from our society for too long.

I really enjoyed the story - the author really put a new perspective on the whole superhero genre thing. Watching the protagonist work through various moral issues was really an interesting experience. What was interesting to me is that I'm usually pretty rabid to get to the "origin" story for superhero novels, but in this case, I found I really didn't care. The author did a great job of downplaying the need for an origin.

I would have given it 5 stars, but I thought that in a few places, the author stepped out of the story a bit into preaching - for example, I though chapter 39 was a particular example of this and really didn't serve the story overall, in my opinion.

Really looking forward to follow ups.

A non-comic book look at what it would be like if you developed super powers? How this would change your life? In the end, just like Superman, the boy with super powers ends up alone and apart from the rest of humanity.

I consider myself to be a bit of an über nerd and a snob, so I wasn't immediately sure I'd love this book. But, it's pretty damn amazing! It definitely has one of the most interesting narrative hooks I've ever seen (no spoilers but it involves multiple superhero-esque power upgrades and a hero's journey).

I would be SHOCKED if Person Of No Interest doesn't soon become the next big Hollywood film franchise or television show. Let the fan casting commence!!!

A young boy suddenly develops unusual powers. This is not particularly a young adult book because there are some pretty complex philosophical ideas put forth. The book follows him through young adulthood and his decisions regarding using his super powers.

I would recommend another edit. The phrase proceeded to got way overused. Also, there was some clunky language here and there, but nothing that would both roast readers. I'm a retired English teacher so it was more irritating to me because the story was so good that the language interrupted the flow.

I liked his treatment of unintended consequences. It's something most people don't think about before making decisions. It's a good, thought provoking element that adds dimension to the book.

What would you do if you were 13 years old, and accidentally teleported. You'd try to figure out if you could do it again, how to control it, and what would you do to take advantage of it. So begins the journey of self discovery in Mr. Ahmed's "Person of No Interest." Told in the first person, he wants to use his new-found powers for good, but at what point is he crossing the line? If he interferes in a kidnapping and hurts or kills the kidnapper, has he become a bad guy himself?

This is more of an intellectual story than the typical action-packed story that you'd expect in which the main character has super-human powers. As such, this story won't be for people who enjoy a strong plot-driven novel, although there is a fair amount of action. At times I was left wondering where is this story going? By the time I got to the end, though, I was glad I had read it.

The almost memoir/diary style is what helps this book stand out from the crowd of usual superhero genre entries into the literary world.

Also paired with an interesting twist on moral quandaries you may face when given powers beyond the normal human.

No black and white, no certainty over the path you will take, just natural feeling reactions of the world around you. The ending has a sense of closure while leaving room for future updates which is well handled without feeling like a cheap cop out. I very solid first effort, I will be interested in seeing what else the author has to offer in future.
