I used this knife to cut raw meat and it did very well….. I was able to cut them thin slices with minimal effort…..I like that it comes with a safety button so it will not cut unless you push the button…. The assembly and release of the blades is super easy and I they are dishwasher safe…. I would recommend

I love this product! Recently I have started making my bread from scratch and using a knife always smashed the bread or left the slices uneven. Whenever I am looking for a good product I am looking for a decent price that is good quality and this product was definitely that. It cut like a charm and did not hurt my wallet. I also loved that it was easy to put together and take apart. That way It can have a long blade which is amazing (the double blade cuts so fast and easy) and also be easier to store. One other thing I like about it is that it made less of a mess because the cut was really smooth. Definitely worth the purchase.

This is a pretty good product. The only issue I have is that I wish the blades were a little sturdier. They tend to bend a little when trying to thin slice a roast. Last one I had was a Black and Decker as well and the blades didn't bend at all.

Back story: I ordered and received a foam pillow to elevate my legs and feet, but by the time I actually used it, it was past time to return it. I have very short legs, and the 8" one was too high. Those pillows are expensive. I decided I could either spend a little more and get an electric knife to cut it in half, or I could chalk it up to bad decisions and "eat" the almost $40.00. I decided on this knife - mainly because I've use a lot of Black and Decker appliances and tools and have never had a problem.

I hesitated to order this, because several of the reviews mentioned the safety switch was hard to keep on - two hands were needed to cut and hold it down. I have very small hands, so I knew that might be a problem. There must have been a redesign (maybe Black and Decker heard the complaints) because on my knife, you can push the switch one way to lock it on, and the other way locks it off.
I cut the pillow in half - and now I have 2. The only problem is the pillow is 24" across, and the knife blades are only 7" (or maybe 9"). Anyway getting to the middle to completely cut the pillow in half was a small problem, so it's rather sculptured there. No problem, put a case on it and it's fine.

I really like this knife. I had one years ago, and there wasn't a safety switch or a way to safely eject the blades. This is much better - and am going to have to get some French bread and then roast a turkey breast, so see how well it does with those. It's a great product, and I'm really glad I bought it.

UPDATE - 2/1/19 I did get some French bread, and it sliced half a loaf in less time than it took to get my regular bread knife out. The slices are so even (something I never could accomplish with my regular knife) and I'm very pleased. Now I'm looking around for something else to slice!

One thing - the blades are very sharp! I've used it twice and nicked myself 3 times. In the middle of the night I realized that I could leave the plastic sleeve that came to store the blades in ON the blades until I got them hooked into the knife.

I bought the BLACK+DECKER 9-Inch Electric Carving Knife after reading tons of reviews. I simply couldn’t afford to spend a lot of money at the time of my purchase. We had been making homemade bread using a Breadmaker, but cutting slices of bread evenly was a challenge. My husband didn’t like using the Bread Slicing Guide I had purchased, so we bought this electric carving knife. Cutting the bread is now so easy. It’s like cutting through butter. We’ve cut wheat bread, white bread, rustic bread, and European style bread. I have even used it with my bread slicing guide and enjoy cutting that way too. The maneuverability is superb either using it free-hand or with a bread slicing guide. I am only 5ft 1in so I have small hands. The knife is ergonomic and easy for even me to hold. We use it so much since we only slice the bread when we go to use it that we leave it on our countertop. The color goes well with our kitchen appliance colors - black and silver. My husband grabbed it and used it to cut a beef brisket and bone-in ham. It worked perfectly for the meats too. He also grabbed it to slice a really soft tomato and it worked splendidly. I am so glad we spent our dollars wisely on this purchase.

I liked that it was $20 but it needs a little more oomph. It cuts through muscle and skin just fine but hard cartilage and bone is another matter entirely. Look at me, I sound like a serial killer! 🤣

The handle also gets a little slippery due to the fact that it's made of a smooth and shiny plastic and, once a little bit of rendered fat gets on there, it becomes a bit of a commotion with people at the table wondering if I know what I'm doing. I try to make everything nice for everyone but this knife keeps slipping around in my hands! Then my father in law gets involved and I end up getting cuckolded in my own kitchen!

Assembly is simple enough but be mindful that the blades are slippery after use. Wash them thoroughly before you try to remove them. I learned the hard way.

So, yeah, three stars.
