Portable
After returning my item to Doxie, they contacted me and sent me a new scanner I was able to get it to work with my iPhone 11, unlike the last one, since that is how I primarily do most of my business scanning (adobe scan with my camera). And have been able to use it successfully. I have put it through different scanning tests and was pleased. But there were still some flaws. I noticed that on some of the older photos it did not scan well because of the photo paper that they used in the 70s. But the other scan of a 1960s photo turned out good, despite the photo was damaged. Also i loaded the scanner with 7 sheets of paper to do a scan (i do a lot of multiple page scans). It only scanned 5 of the pages because the feeder picked up 2 pages at once. Instead of one at a time. And all pages came out as separate scans instead of a continuation. But I liked the quality of the scans.I also want to say that the battery does not have a long life. I gave it a full charge, used it to scan 10 single pages, then let it sir for a few days. Then when I turned it on, i was down to 1 bar from just sitting. I bought a case and some photo protector sheets for it. But still it needs a better battery life expectancy. But overall it is a good scanner for scanning.

I came across Doxie after seeing a YouTuber (Creativity RV) talk about her scanner. What peaked my interest was the fact it did not have to be connected to a PC when being used because of built in WiFi and it has a rechargeable battery so I can sit and watch TV and scan. I decided to go with the Q because I did like the fact it has a document feeder so if I have something that is a couple of pages I can scan it all at once. We have a large HP printer that has a scanner but it sits in a different room and while it is great it's not convenient. This little scanner is perfect to scan and go to keep the paper stack from getting out of control!

The quality of the scans so far have been great, I haven't tried a photo yet but that's next. I started to transfer recipes that I had on paper into EverNote before I got this scanner and was using some utilities on my phone. If I had this scanner when I started that process would have been a lot smoother (have more to do so it will fun to do now!)

I use the Doxie Software on my iMac and android phone and have not had any issues with it. I like the desktop software and find it's really easy to use. I like that it has a little "staple" feature so if you scan several pages you can "staple" them together into one document once you have them scanned.

My only comment so far is when you first set it up with WiFi give it a few minutes to find your network. I was concerned at first that it was taking a while to connect but I haven't had any issues or delays with it connecting since.

On a final note, how a company handles things after you purchase their product goes a long way with me. After I registered my scanner I received a nice welcome email with a cute little scan from their product specialist. I thought it was nice. Then a few days later I received an email with a request to schedule a quick call with their Product Manager to see how I liked the scanner and what feedback I had. Those things make it well worth the purchase to me because it shows they are interested in getting customer feedback to make their product better.

I would definitely recommend this device if you want to go as paperless as possible and want a convenient way to do it.

****Update August 2021
I still really like the portability and handiness of the scanner but it is really slow to connect to wifi. I don't know if its my device, my wifi or if anyone else has this issue.

Update to my Previous review. Doxie contacted me and took immediate steps to correct the issues I had with one of my Doxie scanners by sending a replacement, which I received just two days after. I must say I'm impressed with the level of customer service. Their turn around was quick and I now have a fully working scanner. I believe the issue I had with the scanner was an isolated issue considering that we have bought multiple scanners for our office and only this one had an issue after almost a year of use. Nonetheless, Doxie came around and replaced the item no questions asked. I'm very satisfies and happy to have a Doxie scanner again. These scanners make scanning a lot easier and the memory card makes portability and convenience that much better. I really recommend this scanner to anyone looking for space saving on their desk (scanners are very slim and look great too), for portability, and easy of use.

I bought 4 of these scanners for my office about a year ago and have been very happy, to the point where I've order a few more since the original purchase. However, I'm giving it three stars since the one scanner I kept for me (the other ones were for my colleagues) stopped working about a week ago. Upon inspection I notice that it was because the scanner's USB mini port broke inside and I'm unable to connect it to charge it. The scanner had been charging before but it had stopped transferring files to the computer when plugged in directly. I had to transfer files by inserting the memory card into my computer. I was ok with that but now it can't charge it either. I don't understand how the connector inside the unit can break like that. I've never had this happened to any other device. Now I need to find another portable scanner for me and other people in our firm since I no longer trust this one.

With reluctance I returned an initally nonfunctional device fresh out of the box. After a very brief email exchange I rapidly received a product replacement and suprisingly found the ordeal effortless and actually had unsolicited follow up with regards to the initial issue. Pleasant company and customer service for sure. Now I have had the product for several months. I use my own classificaiton as light duty. I scan maybe 30 documents a month even more during peak season stuf say taxes or loans blah blah. For comparisons, I hammered my document feeder on my printer to the point of frustration (and feed errors) and opted to expand my hardware for this device. It has not disappointed me so far despite the initial defect. WAY BETTER (light speed faster) THAN ANY ALL IN ONE! Best thing I can pack this baby in my back pack on trips and almost have a traveling business center along with my hotspot. I still struggle with the sign and scan issues for printing but I have other work arounds for this while on the go. Doxie has a good product here. I definitely appreciated the follow up and the customer service they provided for my issue as well.

Updated: Feb 2024
Has outperformed desktop all in ones in all aspects that matter. Speed of scanning, scalability of scanning quality needs, scan and store for later built in, staple mulitple docs and more. I usually make it a point to provide follow up on products I have purchased that have proven themselves. This got off to a rough start but no doubt recovered in its use. For those that might find these important: Pros: Quick scan and store feature, USB powered from device, Doxie program is easy to use, staple feature for mulitple docs, Small and fits in bag. Cons: document feeding multiple docs not reliable and will single scan and staple as a work around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Un outil parfait pour devenir "paperless"
Reviewed in France on March 10, 2021

Arrived quickly and set-up was straightforward with a minor understanding glitch that customer service quickly rectified. Fold out multi-feed auto feeder works brilliantly (max 6 or 7 pages at a time) as does the wireless connection to my Mac. Quality scans pdf or jpeg files. Can't beat this scanner for the price. Very supportive customer service and follow-up. Highly recommend this product and company.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product, Unbeatable Customer Care...
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 1, 2017
I recently purchased the Doxie Q. Having used a Doxie go-wifi before I am not new to the Doxie family. I have not written a review for the Doxiie gowifi when I received it nearly two years back as I rarely write reviews. Why am I writing it now when I have never written a review before ? Read on...

There was a recent increase in mail and documents in my home which made me want to make it paper free completely, as I got fed up of seeing them over the past few months. So I went to my Doxie Gowifi to help me out which to be fair did the job briliiantly but I had a few observations:
1. It was not duplex and hence had to scan it one side and one page at a time
2. It consumed time but that was OK as i scanned while watching TV

I am reasonably technical, but not a professional - I can understand a bit of computer jargon but might want help if I am stuck (this is my personality). So I started to look around and nearly shortlisted a few scanners with duplex facility and an ADF because my specific requirements were :
1. Duplex facility
2. ADF
3. Should be able to be small enough to be on my work desktop
4. No wires hanging around
5. Wifi
6. Price tag - moderate

I buy only on Amazon - never anywhere else. So as I looked online, I went to each of the respective scanner websites and as part of this, I went to the Doxie website and was reading about Doxie Q. Suddenly out popped this chat window and their customer advisor asked if I needed help. And there began a conversation where I saw, for the first time, what customer care should be all about. I am not exaggerating but I believe credit should be given where it is due.

He patiently took me through the Doxie Q, never pushing for a sale but made all the features clear, all though I was well aware ( I thought!!) then he also talked me through the 'interleave' feature of the Doxie Q. By then I was sold , not because of the product but because of the customer care. What ran in on my mind at that time was .. if the customer care is so good, I could atleast ask their help if I had problems. I already read about their customer care but I was seeing it first hand , live , in action.
He also mentioned that the product was on offer during that period. The price wasn't really the matter as I was also considering a product ranging £350.

Whilst he was online, I purchased the product from Amazon, purely because I was so impressed by the way he was going about his job , gave him the reference number. He followed up the sale, informed his colleague - She was brilliant taking it another step forward. She sent me two mails informing me of the progress every step of the way. That was topped by their Director sending me a personalised mail that they were there to help - You could see that it was not one of the routine template mails as the mail contained information of what was actually happening.

I received the product , well packaged, on time as usual - Amazon has never failed me in the past ten years. Prime.. way to go!! What was described at the point of sale was what I saw and am experiencing. The product is fantastic, whilst I am still getting to grips with the interleave feature .. it does work, so no complaints. There is a video as well on the site. The refund was applied as promised.

Any observations?
Yes, the ADF has two small clips on the side and the paper gets occasionally caught while being fed in. It is not a gripe, it is something which you will notice at some point, but I can live with that.

I have not described the product in full detail as other's have done a great job and the reviews all over the internet to a great extent are true .. it is a decent product, with much packaged in it and although is reasonably larger than a Doxie Gowifi is not huge as other scanners could be. It still looks good on your desk and is compact.

What is the best feature of the entire experience in purchasing the product?
Definitely customer care, because you can buy a similar or a near similar product for more or less the same price tag anywhere else. I am fully convinced that you might not receive the same level of customer care. Other's may/might be good or even excellent, but Doxie's customer care I believe is unbeatable, definitely.

Why?
I have always purchased online and have dealt with customer care over the years for other products. If I have taken the time to write about it when I have never written about any other product in ten years, I think that speaks for itself.

In Summary, the Doxie Q is:
1. Reasonably compact
2. Comes with inbuilt Wifi
3. Can still be carried around in your bag
4. Has a case separately sold on Amazon ( if needed)
5. Has a great feature - 'interleave' which steps in for the Duplex feature
6. Imports well into the Doxie app
7. Has an SD card feature if you need it
8. Decent price tag
9. Can hold its own against the competition
10. Has fantastic Customer Care

Any Cons:
1. The foldable ADF could be stronger - appears weak and flimsy ( if you have toddlers and children keep away )
2. Nothing can beat a Duplex - the Doxie Q has two extra steps in the scan process - but that will be fine once you master the 'interleave' as I have noticed in my experience.

Would I recommend it?
Defintely yes.

Why did i write this ?
Firstly, there will always be someone in a dilemna when choosing a product, like I was. Some might not realise that there is excellent customer care around. If you go to Doxie's website, the chat window pops out straight away. Just visit the site and your questions will be answered any time of the day.

Secondly, when decisions are difficult price should not always be the decisive factor (although it is important). Excellent customer care should factor in the decision making process. That Doxie has in plenty !!
All the best to you in your quest to make your home paper free.

Thankyou Dennis and Alexandra.

5.0 out of 5 stars Im Detail weitaus besser als die Konkurrenz

5.0 out of 5 stars Guter Scanner ohne PC Zwang
