contained a hidden stash of ancient coins worth a small fortune. I'm
using my new-found favorite hiking gear to hold a 20 ounce, insulated,
matte finish water bottle, and the Wild Wolf Outfitters bottle holder
provides a perfect, adjustable fit: snug, but not too tight; quick and
easy bottle insertion and extraction; plenty of options for positioning
the holder and strap exactly where they fit best on my body.
I'm a geocacher. Not the kind who thrives on the quick and easy cache
finds (though I'm all for any who can't live without those). Rather, I
like the challenging, longer hikes to parts unknown to make my cache
finds. Those longer excursions always require carrying water, usually a
hydration bladder full, and the Wild Wolf Outfitters bottle holder
serves as great secondary storage for much better temperature-controlled
hydration.
My new Wild Wolf Outfitters sidekick is ruggedly constructed, looks
great (chose the blue one, but it was a toss-up, because both color
offerings are handsome), and it's my most-prized accessory gear, even
for some of the shorter hikes and adventures. For those quicker, shorter
forays into the wild, the holder carries my only water supply, and the
ample bottle protection provided is much appreciated. The two secure,
zippered pockets on the face of the holder are perfect for stashing a
bit of geocaching swag, a map or cache notes, a mobile phone, some
caching tools-of-the-trade, or things I haven't yet discovered would be
ideal to have quickly at hand. I can envision doing some urban and quick
caching carrying only the Wild Wolf Outfitters bottle holder and an
insulated bottle, with everything else I'd need stashed in the zippered
pockets.
The generously-long, adjustable strap for the holder has heavy duty,
metal clips that attach to metal D-rings, which are enhancements that
provide extra protection for my water bottle and the holder's pocket
contents. I could go on and on about all I love about the Wild Wolf
Outfitters bottle holder (including that having it makes me part of the
Wolf Pack), but I'll just quickly note other greatly appreciated features:
+The drawstring closure firmly secures a water bottle into the
holder, so there's no danger of the bottle falling out and being
damaged, or possibly being lost
+The hand strap makes it much easier to drink from my water bottle,
without removing the bottle from its protection
+I prefer having the padded strap rest comfortably on my shoulder,
but I do like the option (via the special clip) to attach the holder to
my backpack
+Did I mention how attractive my blue model is? Love the
contrast-piping.
+Finally, even the zipper pulls have been engineered to be both
attractive and functional. They're not just decorative, nor a minimalist
afterthought.
One of the smartest buys I've made, ever. Best customer follow-up from
any company, ever. Color me impressed and happy and sending a gigantic,
super-positive Wolfpack howl from the USA.
It was super useful at the hotsprings/pool we spent time at on the way home. I was able to keep my phone,ID , credit card and room key all in the water bottle holder with me at the poolside secure but accessible. Very handy!
The cons are pretty nit-picky but here they are:
-It's really designed for flasks that have a narrower neck: I use 24/25 oz Avex/Contigo/Coleman style water bottles and the neoprene and drawstring at the top are about 1/2" too tall and partially cover the autoseal button. It still works fine, but just reminds you it's not perfect everytime you take a drink.
-I wish the larger pocket had a double zipper : I found I had to unzip it almost all the way to get my phone in or out(OnePlus 5, pretty much std size phone these days). A double zipper would have let me open the top to pull the phone out, instead of unzipping 3/4 of the way and risking it slipping out the side as you're unzipping.
-I like to pick it up and carry it by the straps it has on either side. I wish the stitching at the bottom of the straps went up about an inch higher from the bottom. If your bottle is not full it's a little too easy for it to slosh and overbalance so it starts to slip out of the holder if you just grab the strap to pick it up. Again really a by-product of the holder being primarily designed for flasks with smaller necks.
