Base is plastic, but the rest of the product exemplifies KitchenAid quality
I learned about this product when someone online mentioned their "mini food processor" and how they used it for making smaller quantities of things such as hummus and sauces. My mind was blown as I've always disliked our larger food processor. It's a pain to clean and never seemed to do a good job before it inevitably burned out less than a year from purchase.I decided to go with KitchenAid since I trust the quality and the price was incredible. When I first opened the box, I was concerned as I noticed the base was made of plastic and it was not as heavy as I had imagined. After all, weight usually equals quality when it comes to things like this. But I put those ideas to the side and decided to try it out.Firstly, this is MINI. I've found it fits about a standard can-sized portion of beans, and you have to scrape the sides as you go. The on button isn't really a button at all: it is the top of the cover, and you have to hold it down to provide power (see pictures). This means you must actively stand there and hold the button for it to do anything. But because you're not processing a whole bunch of food, and because the blades are extremely sharp, this isn't really a problem. The processor works FAST.So far I've used it to make black-bean brownies and falafel, both of which turned out great! I'm thrilled to have something that doesn't take up the entirety of my dishwasher after use. Also, did I mention just how SHARP the blades are? While scraping down the sides of the bowl, the blades snagged my silicone spatula and tore it (bummer!)So to summarize, if someone asked me if they should buy this, I would say: Go for it! The quality for the price is unmatched. The colors KitchenAid provides are adorable. And overall it has been a great cooking and baking experience with this in my kitchen!
My old mini chopper was giving me headaches and throwing me into fits of swearing and gnashing of teeth. Despite it being made by a premier small appliance company and stipulated to have stainless steel components, the projection that held the blade rusted and got stuck all the time! It became a chore to remove the blade portion from the main appliance to the point that I dreaded using it. Enter Amazon Prime Day. This beautiful KitchenAid 3.5 Food Chopper was accompanied by a price I could not refuse. Since its arrival, I have used this little chopper with great success to chop a variety of vegetables including the classic triumvirate of onions, celery, and carrots. After cutting the vegetables into chunks to fit in the bowl, l loaded it up putting it on chop mode. Within seconds, no exaggeration, it had whittled those chunks down to the perfect chopped size. I did have to hold the machine when it initially began chopping the carrots, but not for the less dense vegetables. It was actually quite amazing how this teeny little red machine did its thing! This petite wee chopper is compact with a space at the bottom where the cord is wound keeping it out of site and preventing the cord from dangling obtrusively from its storage shelf. The apparatus has three pieces (not counting the main motor portion) consisting of the lid, removable stainless steel blade, and bowl. The lid and bowl are a clear hard plastic making easy to see when enough is enough. The blade attaches to a column of either rubber or plastic and fits securely over the projection. The bowl snaps easily and decisively into place. The on and off switch is located at the top of the handle and operates when pressed down or released which can be easily done with one finger or a thumb. A small sliding switch changes from chop to grind with a simple push and is located just below the bowl on the motor portion of the chopper. The noise is very tolerable and not nearly as loud as my old chopper. The bowl has a convenient pour spout, and there is a "drizzle basin" on top of the lid making adding liquid easy and mess free. The chopper disassembles easily for cleaning and according to the ad is dishwasher safe. My little ruby red gem of a guillotine (also available in 8 other colors) is going to be a great addition to my kitchen.
NOTE: However, I must mention one problem that I had. Neither my son or I could figure out how to remove the lid from the bowl. I read the manual from start to finish (the English portion) twice but to no avail. I cold not find any instructions on how to remove the lid. Each maneuver I tried failed. Fearing that I might indeed break or damage something, I went to that all knowing teacher, YouTube. Finally I found a video with one simple sentence/statement that answered my question. One just takes a finger or thumb and gently pushes the top portion at the stop button forward toward you. So, using gentle pressure and one finger I did just that, and voila' I was able to remove the lid. Simple as pie, but not so initially! Now in my opinion, that should have been included in the instruction manual, and I should not have had to go to YouTube to find out how to remove a lid. KitchenAid is above that! Despite the fact that this is a top notch little machine, I was tempted to give it 4 stars. Reason prevailed, and five stars were assigned because of the size, stability, efficiency, speed, and quality of the machine. It really is very easy to remove the lid once you know how it is done. This little mini chopper is a giant among its own kind, and I can recommend it without reservation...just remember- push the little starter toward you to remove the lid!
Top 3 Likes: -Does an excellent job chopping to a roughly uniform size -It is fast, efficient, and relatively, comparatively quiet -Compact and solidly, substantially, and attractively constructed
Top 3 Dislikes: -There is some (but minimal) motor noise -Had to hold it steady while chopping dense vegetables like carrots -Lack of instruction on how to remove the lid
This appliance is a powerhouse that can handle everything from chopping vegetables to kneading dough.
The build quality is exceptional, as you'd expect from KitchenAid. It feels sturdy and well-made, and I have no doubt that it will last for years to come. The controls are intuitive, and the attachments are easy to use and clean.
I've used it for a variety of tasks, including:
Chopping vegetables: It does a fantastic job of chopping vegetables quickly and evenly. Shredding cheese: Shredding cheese is a breeze with this processor. Kneading dough: I've used it to knead dough for bread and pasta, and it works perfectly. Pureeing soups: It's great for pureeing soups and sauces. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my KitchenAid Food Processor. It's a versatile and reliable appliance that has made my life in the kitchen much easier. If you're looking for a high-quality food processor, I highly recommend this one.
My old mini chopper had a crack. This is similar, great for small jobs that don't need a full size processor. Love this has an opening to drizzle in oil! Love the color and the cord wrap on the bottom.
This appliance works great, almost too good! High quality blades and turdy device, easy to assemble and clean. I'm disappointed I didn't buy one earlier because it's such a time saver. It's fast, chops mirepoix mixture in seconds!
I really like this food chopper and have always trusted the KitchenAid brand. I am disppointd that almost the entire food chopper appears to be made of PLASTIC. This food chopper is not cheap at $50+, and I worry/wonder how long this food chopper will be the love of my life? It's quite, does the job well (so far), and it's attractive. BTW, all the plastic is not what I would desdribe as "high quality." The food chopper is the prfect size for my needs, easy to clean, and does not take-up a lot of space. This is the last thing I I will add: -- will I be back on Amazon in 6 months to buy a new food copper again bcause the plastic let me down?
I really love this small KitchenAide chop/puree piece. I use it to make salsa and puree foods as needed. It runs great and is easy to wash and store! Our family uses it often! It only has 4 parts so it’s quick to wash and put away! Love it!

I really love this small KitchenAide chop/puree piece. I use it to make salsa and puree foods as needed. It runs great and is easy to wash and store! Our family uses it often! It only has 4 parts so it’s quick to wash and put away! Love it!
I love this it’s just big enough for my needs yet very stylish. I had a small electric chopper for many years and used it all the time. It finally gave up and I thought I don’t need another, after about a week of hand chopping I was right on Amazon 😁. Works great for me!
I love this chopper! It’s easy to use and clean. It holds a surprising amount and is powerful. It will quickly cut up 2 cups of nuts or a whole onion (first cut in smaller pieces, of course). I didn’t need operating instructions; the pieces basically twist together. The size makes it preferable to my large food processor. A+++.
I bought this last year during Black Friday sales. It's been a great little chopper, puree-er. I use it mostly for making fast work of chopping vegetables for soups, rice or the freezer. I also tried pulverizing dried ginger to a powder, that was just okay. The machine isn't really made for that.
It is small but I like that, as my kitchen is also small with limited storage space. While it is small and perfect for me, I don't think it would be adequate for large freezer batches, or for food prep for a family.
I think others have had issue with getting the container on right and pushing the lever to run the blade. I did initially, too but once you figure it out, it's actually easy. Get the lid on right then lock it and the entire unit in place. When you hear the click, it's ready for you to start chopping. Easy peazy. Just depress the 'on' button at the top of the handle and you're chopping.
I don't have a dishwasher, so I can't comment on how it holds up in that regard but it washes up by hand just fine. I always rinse the parts once I'm done using them, so nothing is crusted on when I'm ready to do dishes in the sink.
Something that I've been intending to try but haven't yet, is chopping things like peppers, onions, etc. to lay out in my dehydrator. It would make the prep soooo much easier.
Just one other thing: I have not yet had occasion to use the little pour spout/hole in the lid. It looks impossibly small for letting anything through, so once when I was washing it, I tried running water to see if it could actually get past that tiny opening. It does, no problem.
All in all, I'm pretty happy with this purchase. It makes my life a little easier at times.
You can't go wrong with a Kitchenaid. I have a full size food processor but it is a pain to drag out gor small tasks. And my mini chopper is too small to be practical. This is just right, does the job quickly and doesn't take up a ton of space.
First and foremost, the size is perfect for those everyday kitchen tasks. Whether I'm chopping onions, making salsa, or whipping up a quick batch of pesto, the 3.5-cup capacity is just right for small to medium-sized jobs. It's ideal for those moments when you don't want to haul out the big guns but still need the convenience of a reliable food processor.
The 240-watt motor may seem modest, but it handles everything I throw at it with ease. The stainless steel blade is sharp and efficient, ensuring consistent results every time.
Cleaning up after use is a breeze. The bowl, lid, and blade are all dishwasher safe, saving me precious time and effort. The compact design also means it doesn't take up much space in the dishwasher or on the counter, making it a convenient addition to my kitchen setup.
The build quality is what you'd expect from KitchenAid – durable and reliable. The sturdy construction assures me that this mini food processor is built to last, and the sleek design adds a touch of sophistication to my kitchen.
