Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I bought these strings for my sons guitar . Had one string that had a bit of a bend in 3 different spots . Next string was good , then the B and E strings both had complete kinks in them that could not be worked out ! We have been using this brand for years and have always been happy . Someone in quality really messed up letting these pass inspection!
These strings feel like other D Addario strings to me. They play well and sound great. The string wonder is a great design. Not only is it a handy string wonder but also has a peg puller for acoustic guitars. I like that, but the best part is the string snips. They have small curved jaws just the right size for strings, but on the tips of the jaws they have a small flat beak that allows it to reach around the string and pick it up off of the neck while clipping. It makes it possible to put it on the string web tight on the neck, picks up the string and puts it into the jaws to be smoothly cut. This inexpensive little tool is handy and cuts around the string instead of flattening it like dykes do. It is much easier to cut with and can be done with one hand. Every guitarist needs one of these.
More or less D'addario's take on Ernie Ball's Palidium series. Oddly enough, these seem the warmer-toned of the two premium strings, whereas their standard sets are noticeably brighter than Ernie Ball Slinkies. In any case - yes they're very, very strong and hard to break. I couldn't with my bare hands, not that I'd want to. Slight perceivable increase in output, but where these really shine is the boost on sensitivity, or the added ability to play with a lighter touch and still be heard through the pickups.
Of course, any great pair of strings would be in the ballpark with these abilities, however the ability to feel new and slick after 3 months after almost daily playing is even more impressive. I wanted a longer lasting string without any gimmicky coating *cough*elixr* that wouldn't interfere with my normal playing approach and these surpassed my highest expectations. Don't think I'm going back to those peasant strings, hrmph!!
Best strings ever. I switched from regular D'Addarios to these when I started breaking a string every show. I shared my plight with a guitar sales rep at Sam Ash while traveling through Cleveland on tour. He turned me onto the NYXLs and I have never looked back! Tone is amazing and these things can take a BEATING! Super staccato funk picking and hard power chord strumming won't put a dent in these. Definitely worth trying.
This particular set was a special that included a string winder and for some reason was cheaper than the set WITHOUT the winder. So, naturally, I got this item.
These are the best strings I've ever used. I've tried many strings from different manufactures over the years however I've found that D'Addario make the best. I was using the EXL120's however when the NYXL's came out recently, I had to give them a try. They blew me away. They last twice as long and stay in tune better. These will be the only strings I use from now on.
These are so far the best strings I've ever used. I've tried Ernie Ball Cobalt and those Elixir things (hated them) but I like the sound and ease of break in. I've only been playing for forty years or so, but I've gone through a few sets. I got my first set of these earlier this year and I really like them a lot. They took almost no time to stretch the "new" out of them. After that they stayed in tune great. I had one problem with the first set which was when the high E string broke. I do a lot of bends but rarely break strings. Even more rarely the place it broke was not at the bridge saddle but at the brass bobbin thing that anchors the string. I'm hoping it was a freak incident, and so far I haven't broken any more. That's why they don't get five stars. They are a little more expensive than what I had been using and I may not put them on all eight guitars I use regularly. Unless I become a paid musician again.
These came highly recommended by a friend who is a very good guitar player. Full disclosure, I am literally the worst guitar player in the world. I have documented proof from reliable sources. In any case, I recently picked up a 1980s hairband type guitar, specifically a Peavey Tracer and needed the appropriate strings to do some serious shredding while practicing Three Blind Mice, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and when I’m feeling really saucy, some Happy Birthday.
Despite being proven to be the worst player in the world by reliable sources, I do, in fact, practice often and have used various strings. These are worth the premium cost in terms of feel (they feel like butter without the greasiness or the nasty flavor of margarine) and I also don’t find myself having to re-tune as often.
Additionally, I build speakers as a hobby and often times use reticulated foam in the finished product. When you snap an e-string, I have often have recycled the B string as the cutting wire on my home made foam hot wire cutter. The NYXL b-string shreds foam better than I shred children’s songs.
The NYXL strings are superb strings. I have played electric, acoustic, flamenco, piano for 35 years and I have used so many different strings. Wonderful timbre and a warm beautiful sound to record to Pro Tools. I had a minor problem with one of the strings so I wrote D'Addario a letter (a real letter with a stamp) and they took care of me with amazing customer service.
