Se supone que aquí es donde os cuento mi vida, en especial y ya que esto es un libro, cuáles son los motivos que me hayan empujado a escribirlo. Le he dado muchas vueltas. No se trataba de dejar un legado, ni que fuera la última de las tres famosas premisas que hay que llevar a efecto antes de estirar la pata, a saber: plantar un árbol, tener un hijo… Tampoco es que me crea en posesión de la verdad absoluta o de una visión de la vida que pueda cambiar el mundo… ojalá. He de ser sincero: escribo porque sí. O tal vez porque no tengo ni idea de tocar la guitarra, arreglar aparatos electrónicos o pintar al óleo. ¿Cómo llega un tipo como yo a terminar de escribir una novela de doscientos y pico folios? Buena pregunta. Aquí es donde podría hablar de una cuidadosa planificación de la estructura, de la toma de decisiones acerca del tipo de narrador o sobre las metáforas con las que introducir un tema de sumo interés para mí. Una vez más he de sonrojarme al confesar. Un buen día, ya no recuerdo si por la mañana o por la noche antes de acostarme, se me ocurrió un buen título. A mí, al menos, me lo pareció: La balada de Brazodemar. Sugerente… A partir de ahí fue un transcurrir de páginas en blanco, avanzar a través de la apasionante historia del protagonista y llegar hasta el final. Palabra.
