Very disappointed! You had the premise for a great movie, but you said in the synopsis that Sam, an ex combat soldier was going to bring his skills to the forefront during this terrifying and lethal experience. All I can say is that Sam certainly didn't act like a combat soldier or exhibit any special training to me. Won't be getting a second viewing from me. Cordially, Disappointed. Denis C. Berte', Special Forces (Ret)
The film opens as we see three laughing lunatics obtain Santa suits. Meanwhile the homeless are celebrating Christmas at a courthouse, closed for the holidays and no watchman. Sam, an ex-GI is the most stable in the group, none of which walk around in soiled clothes, yelling at cars and talking to themselves like hard core NYC homeless. The three Santas break-in and uncharacteristically, methodically plan to kill everyone.
One Santa killer, good, so three would be three times as good? Sometimes less is more. There was no background on the killers who seemed mindless at times and scheming at other times. The fighting and killing choreography needed work. It looked faked. And when you have a machete in your lung, you won't be talking, you'll be gasping for air. Just saying. People run and hide and look to fight back. You know the drill and the ending.
Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity. Plenty of blood squirts and decapitations.
I enjoyed (Good Tidings) while not the best horror film I've seen this year it's certainly better than the multitude of duds that have been coming it as of late.
Three psychotic men dress up as Santa's and terrorize a group of homeless people. These men seemingly have no emotions what so ever. Never revealing who they really are "some people had a problem with this" I found it to be creepier and more effective. The way they move and communicate is animal like, as they don't speak only grunt. This is extra creepy as well.
It's a pretty good slasher with some very creepy moments. I'd recommend it to lovers of the genre. 3 1\2 stars
For those 1 star naysayers...you either didn't see the film or didn't have success with your film!
This was perhaps the finest "holiday Santa" horror film i've seen....and i've seen a lot of them. Good story, good acting, good editing and just plain TENSE! From the start to the end it's dark and filled with hopelessness. The music score was brilliant as well. This did not appear low budget at all, by the way.So again you want a good twisted horror film...here it is.
You usually wouldn't think of psychopaths and demented men dressed in Santa suits when getting in the Christmas spirit, but this film is perfect if you're looking for some horror before the Holidays. It is beyond twisted and gory and will make you question your idea of Christmas. Definitely would watch again.
