I am going to post a somewhat detailed review as I saw I noticed a few conflicts from what I experienced with this piano vs previous reviews I read. Is it possible that the manufacturer improved the product since it's launch? Possibly... but here goes.
1. The piano CAN handle it's own tones. As a matter of fact, even the lowest volume setting is more than suffice for most play instances. Even after raising the volume significantly, I was able to play bass tones without any problem with the grand piano tone. I did not experience a "buzzing" noise, but rather an internal vibration once when I played 1 bass key very loudly using a odd tone/timbre, oddly the other bass keys, even in lower range, played fine. Additionally, the vibration sound did not come from the speakers but from the piano housing itself since the piano is light and hollow. Not a common issue to worry about.
2. The stool is not made of plastic. It is definitely made of metal material aside from the seat cushion itself. It's very table and appears to be able to hold my weight without any problem. I weigh 170 lbs so it's more than enough for my daughter.
3. Yes, the piano songs are not that familiar but from my previous experience owning a children's Casio piano, it's all about the same. What I did like about the preloaded songs is that the goal the manufacturer was trying to reach was to provide a beat pattern rather than an actually fully loaded song. So in my opinion, it's a plus for advanced players who wish to practice chords and melodies over different types of patterns.
4. Keyboard stand was actually better than I expected because it was able to go low enough for my 9 year old daughter. I was previously using a high quality keyboard stand that I bought from a very respectable music store that was too high even on it's lowest setting.
5. BIG PRO: The keyboard plugs in seamlessly using an iPad camera adapter. I was able to synch it to the "Simply Piano" and "Synthesia" app. You do have to play with the midi input/output settings on the Synthesia app which basically makes the piano lighted keys respond to the songs you are looking to play on the app. Amazing feature on both the equipment and app side. And considering the Synthesia app is free makes it a huge bonus.
6. Unless you are looking to go pro, I can't see why a child would quickly grow out of a 61 key piano. Keys on the Joy are much lighter in weight and easier to press than the keys on my M-Audio 49 keyboard which I prefer since it's for a child.
Most other light-up keyboards with midi capability costs $220 and up for the keyboard alone so this Joy bundle is the best bang for your buck in my opinion.

Great starter piano for the price!!
It’s a great piano for the aspiring pianist!! I got it for my wife and she loves the light up keys. It’s quite loud as well. I plan on learning it myself to use it for my own music projects.My only complaint is the cheap quality seat. My hack was to cut a piece of corrugated cardboard to fit into the slot. Sheet music can be clipped onto the cardboard and my tablet is securely held in place by flipping its cover over the cardboard. Works like a charm!
As you can see from the photos the frame arrived with a small sliver broken (found in the box) and the opposite side with a bulge. It didn't serve it's purpose so it didn't matter to me.
The keyboard is perfect for me since I'm teaching myself to play but I think it would be fine for anyone other than experienced players.
