Psychological Aikido: USA English version revised by MD Psychiatry Dr.Gelfand Aikido black belt Kindle Edition

4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 39 ratings

The fine art of what has been called psychological Aikido or psychological Jujitsu are high-level approaches to self-defense using these core principles to turn and lead, deflect and redirect, another’s critical, negative, manipulative and emotionally aggressive behavior back to the one who is enacting it. Psychological Aikido aims to maneuver in such a fashion that all the destructive energies of those who believe they can attack you with impunity, are reversed, turned and redirected back to its source, disabling them and their destructive behaviors. Buddhists in uncovering their “Buddha nature” suggest using “skillful means” to help facilitate inner peace, reflect outer equanimity and all have a ring of authenticity. Little understood and less practiced, psychological Aikido/Jujitsu is ever available as it is seen, understood, practiced and installed through repeated behavior that produces greater effectiveness.
Related to these martial arts practices of Aikido and Jujitsu and predating all sciences, including chemistry, physics, and the behavioral sciences, there was Alchemy. Alchemy’s fundamental principles are reportedly rooted in the ancient Persian Empire, now called the Middle East, and the practice has spread to the Far East and then Europe spanning at least 2500 years. Alchemy means the art of transformation or change. The best-known goals of alchemists were the transmutation of common metals like lead into precious metals like gold and silver.

Dr. Mikhail Litvak is a famous Russian psychotherapist, member of the European Psychaetry Organization and the author of 40 books about psychology of the human relations. His books were published more then 8 000 000 copies only in Russian language and been translated in English, German, Chinese, French, Bulgarian, Litvanian and other languages. More information about the chronology and his works you can find in Wikipedia.

Through his knowledges Dr.Litvak had helped millions of people to find their own path to happy life. Himself he managed to cure the cancer, which doctors daid was ancurable and he would die within a year, it was in 25 years ago and he is still working and gives example of sustainable life!

From the Editor Dr.Evgeny Gelfand MD Psychietry: I wanted to become a doctor since a fairly young age. My parents were both in the healthcare field and I wanted to follow in their footsteps.  Leading up to medical school, I thought I would go into a surgical specialty, thinking it was more exciting and that I would deal with very challenging cases.  But, as I started medical school it became increasingly apparent to me that, at least in the developed countries, the development of pathology often had behavioral roots.  Aside from genetic predisposition, i found that we get sick largely due to the lives we lead and the choices we make, and that notion has only become more and more certain as got deeper into my studies. Therefore, behavioral health and the field of psychiatry really attracted me and have become my calling.

How I got into Aikido.

I became fascinated with martial arts ever since I saw my first martial arts film, when my dad brought home a VHS player (at that time one of the first in our town).  I was very impressed and even idealized martial artists, wanting to study the art myself someday. When I finished my medical residency, I finally felt that I could start exploring my long anticipated hobby, and set out on a  mission to find the most fitting martial arts school for me.  I have seen aikido in movies and it always attracted me, seeing how effortlessly the hero dealt with the attackers, who were sent flying all over the place and thought that something like that would be fitting for me.  Being not the biggest guy I didn't want to rely on brute force, but more on technique and cunning, being able to use the opponents momentum against them.  My search did not take me very far, as there was a Wadokai Aikido dojo just around the corner from my residence, where I recently moved to.  Needles to say, the moment I came through the doors to watch a class I knew that I was home; and the organization very quickly became my family, my ohana. I think it was synchronicity.

The translation is very unprofessional. There is even no name of the actual translator. Perhaps, the author just used Google to translate. If you don't know Russian, many sentences won't make any sense because of the poor translation. The examples are highly cultural, too. Overall, you would be better off reading this book in Russian if you are a native. If not, there are a lot of books originally written in English on the same topic.

Having this book highly recommended by a friend who read it in its original version, I decided to get it in English as I do not speak Russian. Well, turns up that google translates better...You can still understand but it could have been better.
