Big Girls Don't Bite: Dances With Werewolves Book Three Kindle Edition

After a lifetime of rebelling against her controlling mother and over-protective werewolf family in general, Anna is shocked to find herself falling for a man her mother might actually approve of. Well, if only he wasn’t a human. And the fact that he has a weird genetic problem that could kill him if she “accidentally” bites him doesn’t help matters.
Ericson knows with his shady past, he should lay low. After his brother was murdered, he’d vowed not to put anyone else he loved in danger. Despite his best intentions, Anna Colbert somehow gets under his skin. Apparently with a woman like Anna, resistance is futile.
Big Girls Don’t Bite follows First Bite is the Deepest in the Dances With Werewolves series but also works as a stand-alone novel. These steamy tales of werewolves in love will have you howling with laughter even as you wonder about whether there really are werewolves living amongst us…

About the author

Living in New York and Toronto, Nora Snowdon was a jerk of all trades–one week hawking toys at major toy conventions, the next in a high-end jewelry store pandering to the rich. She worked in the financial market, gambling dens, environmental protection, food service industry and sold shoes. During these years she also either appeared in or directed twenty-five plays.
Then Nora moved to the wet coast, took up health foods (dark chocolate and red wine) and became a Writer of Elegant Smut, (Although apparently her books are generally considered to be Romantic Comedies. Go figure.) Her ambition is to become a crazy cat lady and wine hoarder, not necessarily in that order.

The Verdict: Big Girls Don’t Bite by Nora Snowdon just might be the best book of the Dancing with Werewolves series. Delivering some of the same silly humor that was in the previous books, this one also seems to have more substance. Anna’s snarkiness hasn’t changed at all, but her character seems more fully developed than the ladies we met previously. She’s not just the family oddball, but a somewhat rebellious young woman who wants to be independent and find her place.
Ericson is a bit of a mystery, and once again, I love that Snowdon didn’t waste her time dropping ridiculously obvious hints, instead allowing her readers to remain just as intrigued as Anna is. What we do know about Ericson is that he left England, where he was involved with an elite charitable society, following his brother’s murder. He appears to be lying low, and Anna wants nothing more than to dig into his background.
Their romance was fast-paced, as can be expected in a shorter book like this, but it wasn’t so fast that it wasn’t believable. Something about the humor, chemistry, and general level of comfort these two quickly developed with each other made it feel like they moved along at the perfect pace. And then, of course, there was the additional thrill of the mystery that, I have to confess, I wasn’t even close to figuring out before everything was finally brought to light. And that is how books with a mystery element should be written!
Like the earlier books in the series, this one wasn’t without plot holes. Most noticeably, Ericson’s friend and business partner Al seemed awesome until he was face to face with Anna, at which point he was unbelievably rude. And for some reason, that was never really explained or resolved. And while Anna’s mother seemingly loved Ericson, she didn’t think he was suitable for her daughter. Later revelations in the story made that bit really confusing, and I never really figured out what to think of it. On the upside, though, Anna’s mother, who I couldn’t stand in the earlier stories, kind of wormed her way onto my good side this time around. I’d say more, but that would ruin the fun of reading it.
All in all, Big Girls Don’t Bite was all the fun I hoped it would be and even better than I expected. I’m not sure if more are coming in this series or not, but I certainly hope so!
Anna has always been a bit of a misfit within her family. With an uptight, overly formal mother, a father who is slipping further into dementia and overly protective brothers it’s been hard to find her place – so she rebels in what ways she can. She is highly intelligent and can hack into a computer with ease and rarely, if ever, gets caught. She’s a Goth princess on the outside and a woman discovering exactly who she really is on the inside. I really like her as a character and would have wanted her for a best friend in real life.
Anna’s life is about to take an interesting turn when she meets Ericson at the newly reopened bar she and her friends frequent. Ericson is the bartender, and unknown to Anna, the owner of the bar. When he cards her and she cannot produce her license – well, let’s just say they get off to a rocky start. But Anna’s curiosity gets the better of her when she returns to the bar, arguably to show that jerk bartender that she’s legal – and discovers a charming, interesting man behind the stern ID grabber.
Ericson is a bit of a mystery and Anna is bound and determined to discover everything she can about him. Which will lead to all sorts of trouble – and a man who is equal to her in all ways and isn’t a bit intimidated by her status, wealth or sarcasm. I adored Ericson, he’s a dark, troubled man on a mission that’s close to impossible until he finds himself falling for Anna. He knows he should stay away but she’s a draw that he cannot ignore, even if he should.
There is more mystery to Big Girls Don’t Bite, and it’s a fascinating challenge to figure out the clues and exactly who the bad guys really are. I’ll leave that up to you and not spoil the adventure.
I was captivated by this one, interesting characters, a puzzle to unravel and a bit more understanding of the dynamics of Anna’s family. I enjoyed my time in this world very much and am awaiting the next story in the series.
