Jenny Bilson, a high school senior, is the perfect student, a wonderful daughter to a veteran police detective and an all American Dream. But the one mistake she is unaware of making is about to haunt her in a very violent way, as her past returns for revenge.
A fun slasher flick that will make you twice about skipping school. Jenny Bilson is the near perfect student/daughter. Little miss goody goody. The folks are leaving town and little miss goody two shoes and the good looking boyfriend get Ditch Day party goin on and it's high octane from there. Lots of action, good scenes and sets, creepy villain. The flick has it all and with good production value to boot. Fun ride, just hop on!
To quite frank, I bailed on this disaster at the part when the so-called teens met at the so-called goody -girl's house for a delightful time of raiding the parents' liquor closet for beer, vodka, tequila, and god-knows-what. Some of the group , the goody-goody girl, the woman in fishnet tights and the pony tailed girl's boyfriend looked too old and tired to be playing teens. And I was not viewing this in HD. The creepy murderer looked too obviously a murderer to be stalking his prey in the daytime in a pseudo upscale neighborhood where no one seems to notice. As for the goody-girl's detective father, I did not get why a trained professional failed to notice the murderer following "closely" behind him and not draw out his weapon after being rammed by the other car.
Spoiler alert: It has a really good plot twist at the end.
I'm not a big fan of hack and slash films and the gore kinda pushed me over to the point where I said, "hey, they really should have hammed out the acting a la "Sharknado", know what I mean?" This could have been one of those. Like what's up with the "apples" lol
Now that I am recovered from the flu, I gotta say that this was the perfect movie to watch while recovering. I was so sick of watching "perfect" movies on Netflix that it was putting me into a coma. I needed something different to stimulate my immune system and this one did the trick!
First, I want to recognize that this is a very low budget slasher film. That being said, it’s intriguing. Ditch Day provides a unique story with hard-hitting, in-your-face gore. This slasher allows the viewer to really sit with the killer and understand his motives. It makes you wonder: Is the “bad guy” so bad? Is the victim that much of a victim? It also proves itself to be the Energizer bunny of carnage; once the gore starts, it just keeps going. You don’t really know who makes it out alive. The cinematography and setting give off a realistic look and feel to the film. It’s easier to believe that this could happen in your neighborhood which only adds to the terror. Charming and bloody with a twist ending that throws you for a loop. Definitely an Amazon and chill kind of flick.
