If you are depressed or you care about someone who is, you need to buy The Man In The Pit by David Bishop. This book is insightful, thought provoking, heart wrenching, AND encouraging.
From page one I began to cry.
There is no one size fits all in addressing depression. Depression is static in its presence yet fluid in its symptoms.
Mr. Bishop paints a verbal picture of some of the symptoms of depression.
He stylistically shares the frequent, common, inner monologue many sufferers have on a daily basis. He vividly describes numerous daily struggles experienced by those living with depression and living with a depressed person.
I felt a connection to the man in the pit. I feel like I know him personally. I recognized myself in many of those that passed by and saw my reflection in the mirror if their solutions.
His writing style draws you into the world of the man in the pit then suddenly snaps you back to reality when he switches styles to explain and encourage what was previously read.
I love this book. I've lived this book. I have read it twice and will read it again.
I recommend this book to anyone struggling with depression. I, also, reccmmend it to counselors, pastors, and to those who love someone who is suffering.
