This is the guy that you "work with at the office" that goes out to lunch with you. You don't want him to go because he never shuts up. He thinks he's entertaining and funny but the co-workers see him as needy. It's not that he talks about bad things, he just talks about things that don't matter, aren't intelligent or thought provoking or even relevant. You don't say he's boring, or that no one wants him to join in or that before the middle of lunch is over that you want to kick him out of the booth, you just put up with him. Tom Papa is really a nice guy, but I finally decided to bag lunch it.
I've been watching this guy off and on his whole career. His delivery remains the same but his stories/jokes have improved. He literally made me laugh out loud several times during this show. Most comedians don't do that for me. Maybe a chuckle now and then, a wry grin - entertaining. This guy actually made me laugh. He's getting better at this.
No thanks, not sure how this guy convinced someone to give him a comedy special.
Stick with Lewis Black, Craig Ferguson, or if you want some older laughs Amazon has a large selection of Victor Borge's works on digital video - and you know you won't be wasting your time with any of those.
Big fan for many years. He should really go on tour with Jim Gaffigan, Brian Regan, and Jim Breuer and call it the Father Knows Best Tour or something much more witty. I'd suggest Patton Oswalt, as well but, although he's also fantastic, his comedy obviously isn't as clean. Thanks for another great special, Tom!
Not sure why there's a carpet in the middle of the stage or why he chose an "accountant-in-a-crumpled-suit" look this time, but cosmetic errors aside, his comedy is always top notch. It's awesome to see a genuinely nice, kind, human being deliver a solid comedy performance.
