There is often a HUGE difference between the things you want, and those you need. This was most definitely not one of the latter. Me saying I needed this video card is akin to saying something like...I need a sledgehammer to drive nails into plywoodI need to supersize both of my combos at McDonald'sI need an F-350 Super Duty to make grocery tripsI need a 50 caliber rifle for squirrel huntingI need a Carnival cruise ship for a day at the lake...In short, I DEFINITELY DID NOT need this card, but by God, I bought it anyway.Generally being a budget conscious individual, I've always done my PC gaming on previous generation hardware, and used mid-tier components when building or upgrading my computers. Up until the last month, I've been using an R9 270x with an AMD FX CPU and 8GB of RAM. (I should add that this rig served me faithfully, and is still serving my better half) But somewhere deep in the recesses of my mind, a voice was crying out for more, more, MORE! It was crying out for virtual reality, and more pixels than I could see, more textures, more frames per second... MORE POWER. So for once, I succumbed to my deepest, nerdiest desires and built a completely unnecessary and absolutely beastly computer.Piece by piece I gathered top tier components, and the monster began to take shape. I obtained an i7-7700k CPU, copious amounts of solid state storage, plentiful gold rated wattage, more DDR4 memory than I may ever make use of, displays with more pixels than all the televisions in my house combined. I added liquid cooling. I added more storage. I put it all into a pristine white case behind a plate of tempered glass. But still this creature lacked the fierce heart of a warrior. The voice still cried out for MOREThere was only one source for such a heart; only one company capable of producing such a powerful piece of technology. The core of this savage brute would have to be produced by Nvidia. I could have settled for 1050ti or a 1060 and gamed happily enough for a while. I could have sprung even more for a 1070 or a 1080, and been completely amazed with the results. But these options just would not do. I wanted the BEST, so I bought the BEST.Going from a R9 270x to a GTX 1080 Ti is...It's like going from a 50cc scooter to a Kawasaki H2R.It's like going from shooting spitballs to using a rocket launcher. It's like going from a hang glider to a fighter jet....nothing could have prepared me for it.I could go on and on, but this GPU is nothing short of amazing. I didn't need it, and I couldn't justify the cost. But I am so incredibly glad I bought it. I will likely be eating ramen noodles for the next few months while recouping the costs of building this PC, but that's okay. I may have to turn my heat off to afford my utility bill, but at least the 1080 ti will keep my office warm while I bask in the glow of triple digits frame rates and more pixels than there are stars in the sky.

Plays everything I throw at it on ultra setting at 1440p with a 60fps or above and even does a great job at 4k thought not with every setting at ultra if you want 60fps. Does get loud but I play with headsets on so I hardly notice it this card was also meant for smaller form factor towers so if you have a full sized or mid sized tower this card wasn't created for you it was made for people with small form factors pc as its a smaller blower style card.

Also doesn't have a black plate but it doesn't need one as all they add is looks and serve no function cooling wise. Great card and absolutely worth the price if you do have the extra hundred then by all means get a 800 dollar card but if you don't then this is more than worth your time and money. Only negative is I bought this a few days before they started offering Destiny 2 with this so all didn't get the free game but that's okay I have other games to burn out my eyes with.

I bought it in July, 2017 at the price $829. The price was quite reasonable because all graphics cards were undergoing a price boom during that summer. GTX1080Ti of other brands were all above $1K. This graphics card is powerful and could handle most PC games even three years later (fall 2020) when RTX3090 had been released. Another good point is that the PCB board of this card is pretty strong and after three-year use, I don't see any bending on the board (I don't use any graphics card support device). So, if there will be a ROG Poseidon RTX 4080 TI or 5080 TI, I will definitely buy one.

These graphics cards run great but have some major drawbacks. I have two of these cards running SLI. They perform well, and I don't experience any issues with coil whine but... they get HOT. Like really, really hot. This also causes my PCH to get very hot, because on the ASUS Z270 motherboard the PCH sits right under the GPU.

This caused me quite some concern as the GPU can get to 84° C, and since it sits on the PCH that would cause it to reach above 70° C.

    [UPDATE]
I've no longer got a heat problem. My fans are connected to motherboard headers and are not set too aggressive actually. My issue was not from the cards but from how they were configured and set up. Forgot to update this once it was corrected.

I bought this as an upgrade for VR, coming from a GTX 1060, and I'm thrilled about the performance gain, especially since my system is centered around an AMD FX 8350 Black Edition CPU that is pretty much as good as I can get without replacing the motherboard, etc. This card let me set a higher supersampling rate in SteamVR without adding any HMD judder (once I found the sweet spot, anyway). I've been playing Dead Effect 2 VR with it and this card just plows through whatever the game throws at it with ease. It also runs super quiet. Frankly, I'm amazed how quiet it is. And how cool it runs--my 1060 would regularly hit the low 80's, but this card barely hits the mid-60's. I feel like it's been worth every penny.
Only thing I'd change is I would have preferred ASUS include two of the 6-to-8-pin connectors instead of just one since you need two 8-pins to power the board; I had to dig through my stash of old cards and cables and managed to find another, but if I hadn't I would have had to buy another one. Other than that, this card absolutely rocks!

Great video card for $750±. Shop around. I only purchased this at a scalper prices because I needed to get a rig up and running. Amazon scalpers taking advantage. This is my 2nd 1080 Ti. Great card. First one still going strong after years of use.

Runs great, cool, outperforms my other Asus blower style cards and even has a couple fan headers. Unfortunately this is one of the ones with the PCB they changed to after changing from the original, which already wasn't reference. EKWB had made a block for the card which no longer fits since ASUS changed the PCB for it, so no water cooling for these unfortunately.
