“Aqua, someday when you’re older, you’ll look back at the events in your life and the people who have taken this journey with you—the good and the bad—and you’ll see them in a new light. That doesn’t mean that what is done or said can ever be changed, or that it was justified but when we choose to see people in the best possible light, and approach situations we don’t understand with curiosity, sometimes we find the reality is very different from what we imagined. Sometimes the only change that takes place is the change that happens within us, and often, that is enough.” (Mr. Weiker)
Aqua Weaver has always been the outsider, having hippie parents that did not fit the mold that most people considered normal. They raised their food, herbs, and made tinctures and natural products. Blake Stone came from an upper-class family that looked down on the Weavers.
“Was there any rejection more painful than the realization that the person you loved more than you even knew was possible had so completely and utterly rejected the people closest to you, and thereby rejected you too?”
Aqua will go to college and then onto New York City where she is a CPA and works for the CIA. When she comes home for the memorial, a place she has always sworn she would only visit, she sees it in a different light, and especially with her parents aging. Blake went to John Hopkins to become a doctor and has returned to Burnt River to set up a medical practice.
The plot will bring Aqua and Blake back together during her homecoming. Their relationship is hot one moment and cold the next. Secrets will be revealed, and then there is the issue of medical science versus homeopathic cures. There are several people who still are standing in the way for Blake and Aqua to try and get back together. Will family and friends put an end to their relationship before they even have a chance to explore their feelings? The CIA needs Aqua’s skills in a major money laundering case that will take her back to New York for many weeks, and it will involve working with an ex-boyfriend. Will absence make the heart grow fonder or let them realize that it was just infatuation?
Waiting for love to be right takes patients, faith, and hard work. Sometimes it even means you have to admit that you were wrong.
Fear of the unknown, wondering if you really are meant for each other can put wedges between you. Blake swallowed his pride, how, what did he do?
Please be sure to get this book and read it for yourself to find out everything that happens. It's a wonderful series. I'm enjoying them very much.
She was home for the memorial of her favorite teacher. A man who encouraged them to follow their own path. Each has a purpose to fulfill on earth, was a saying of his. Seeing a high school love Blake, and how different they still were. One of the stumbling blocks were her parents, for him, he was raised differently. A man who knew what he want, and trying to convince her to stay. He was a doctor and wanted to come back to his home town and serve the people he loved. Sparks are flying a love is still there.
A great plot and following them as they have a second chance at love.
