- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2021Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThese are very lucid short essays offering a small portion of the history of religious unbelief in the West, including ancient and medieval Christians outlawing heresy and the 17th and 18th centuries Deist phenomenon springing from Christian heretics. 'Freethought' came to characterize religious dissent and eventually outright unbelief in God. The book is suitable for all adult readers and even for college courses.
