Biografía del autor

Stephen King is the author of more than sixty books, all of them worldwide bestsellers. His recent work includes the short story collection You Like It Darker, Holly, Fairy Tale, Billy Summers, If It Bleeds, The Institute, Elevation, The Outsider, Sleeping Beauties (cowritten with his son Owen King), and the Bill Hodges trilogy: End of Watch, Finders Keepers, and Mr. Mercedes (an Edgar Award winner for Best Novel and a television series streaming on Peacock). His novel 11/22/63 was named a top ten book of 2011 by The New York Times Book Review and won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Mystery/Thriller. His epic works The Dark Tower, It, Pet Sematary, Doctor Sleep, and Firestarter are the basis for major motion pictures, with It now the highest-grossing horror film of all time. He is the recipient of the 2020 Audio Publishers Association Lifetime Achievement Award, the 2018 PEN America Literary Service Award, the 2014 National Medal of Arts, and the 2003 National Book Foundation Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters. He lives in Bangor, Maine, with his wife, novelist Tabitha King.

Stephen King is the author of more than fifty books, all of them worldwide bestsellers. His first crime thriller featuring Bill Hodges, MR MERCEDES, won the Edgar Award for best novel and was shortlisted for the CWA Gold Dagger Award. Both MR MERCEDES and END OF WATCH received the Goodreads Choice Award for the Best Mystery and Thriller of 2014 and 2016 respectively.

King co-wrote the bestselling novel Sleeping Beauties with his son Owen King, and many of King's books have been turned into celebrated films and television series including The Shawshank Redemption, Gerald's Game and It.

King was the recipient of America's prestigious 2014 National Medal of Arts and the 2003 National Book Foundation Medal for distinguished contribution to American Letters. In 2007 he also won the Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America. He lives with his wife Tabitha King in Maine.

Disclaimer: I am a HUGE Stephen King fan. That being said, I will write this review as non-bias as I can.

Firstly, this series was absolutely incredible. It is not the typical Stephen King read (I.e., the series blends horror, science fiction, western, and thriller). It took me a bit of time to get through (you are definitely signing up for quite the task when purchasing this box set) but I am so happy that I decided to put in the time to read it.

This is definitely a weird one (which is typical Stephen King fashion) and my recommendation would be not to immediately write it off. It is a LONG story with A LOT of moving parts, pieces, and story lines, which will fully blend together to paint a beautiful and incredible plot. The first book is a short, easy read and will leave you wanting more.

Before starting, I read other reviews on this series saying how it was confusing or slow (which arguably can said about any long series at points) and I do not at all agree with these reviews. It can be confusing if you do not pay attention (again, this can be said about any series) and can be "slow" if you are not involved in the elaborate journey being laid out before you (I.e., if you are only focused on the present journey, as opposed to the multiple timelines/worlds/stories all being woven together to paint a complete picture).

This is a must for any SK fan and a recommended read for those wanting to go down on a long, elaborate journey, being drawn in by the multidimensional characters and fantasy worlds.

It may seem a bit strange to leave a review for an eight book set when you've only read three of them, but I'm at the point where I can be sure I'll read the other five without question. If you are a fan of Steven King and haven't read most of the books yet, buy this set. If you haven't read Stephen King before, check out Salem's Lot, Pet Semetary, or the Stand to see if you like his writing style. So far, everything you might like about King is in these books but so are the things you might not like.

The first book was a little tough to read because it was written roughly. The climax of the book seemed a bit like nonsense, but that didn't bother me too much because it was written by King at a very young age and he obviously had enough of a vision for the story to write eight more of them. The second book was better than the first from the beginning, and was completely enthralling. Roland's quest for the Dark Tower is fantastic. I understand why he didn't, but I think the Dark Tower series would be more well known if King had rewritten the first novel completely from scratch instead of just editing it for rerelease.

"Go now, there are other worlds then these''. A perfect set of all books. I highly recommend for anyone who's obsessed with Roland, Eddie and Susannah Dean and Jake and there quest for the dark tower. A masterpiece of epic storytelling.

Although I rated most of the books in this series as five-star reads, the last two installments were, in my opinion, only worth two stars--mostly because Mr. King interjected himself into the story (as though he couldn't figure out any other way to steer the plot in the necessary direction). As part of the process, he also hawked several other books that don't belong to this series.

Although the writing was good, the plot twist with him as a necessary player, spoiled the wonder of the tale.

Non vedo l'ora di ricominciare il mio viaggio verso la Torre insieme a Roland. Altro giro della ruota del ka, nuove emozioni che mi aspettano.
Bellissima collezione, ha però alcune imperfezioni e piccole ammaccature. Sorpassabili, tutto sommato.

Der Schuber hat ein sehr schönes Design. Schuber und Bücher sind Hochwertig verarbeitet. Aber schade das es diesen Schuber nicht mit Hardcovern gibt. Und wirklich auch schade des es von den deutschen Verlagen nicht so ein tollen Schuber gibt. Zum Inhalt der Bücher selbst kann nur gesagt werden, das es sich hierbei um Stephen King's Meister- und Lebenswerk handelt. Einfach fantastisch.
