Anyway, whether you are an Elvis fan or not, but especially if you are, I highly recommend this book!!
Thinking it was about the great Elvis Presley. In a way it is.
It's been a long while since I've had a good author write in such flare that my mind could picture the whole story. She did her homework . I can guarantee you when she spoke about music it was correct, or when she spoke about a littke place in Mount Bayou that it exists. She let you feel what competition was like. The edge , the hype of it all.
This author hit some controversial subjects of today's world . She also approached a taboo issue that was back in the 50-60 era. She did it with grace and clarity . She made you see what life is like in today's world of prejudice as well as how long it's been carried through the eras. She added things like pure love, joy ,innocents, determination and belief.
The powerful scene of losing a loved one she hit home making me shed a tear or two.
The triumphs of winning and the elation of it afterwards.
Once again Ms.Guardado has written a beautiful book that flows along.
A truly relatable story about what happens when you don't get what you think you want. A story of doubt, introspection, a realized passion and a goal obtained. A story of friendship and seemingly different people who would not be friends otherwise if not for a common interest or love, in this case Elvis. It reminded me how different yet similar we all are and that I'm not alone in this journey called life.
Congratulations Jules on another terrific book/writing. Looking forward to the continuation since you left us wandering what is next.
