Deceptive. The show advertises restoring old mansions to their former glory. NO. She removes character, destroys floorpans, and designs these historic (character) homes with a modern design...inside and out. Terrible. I would NEVER have purchased this if I had known what she really does. From painting historic wood foyers, ripping out walls haphazardly, choosing horrific wall colors...and even worse wall paper, this is a disaster. Can't watch her ruin history any more. Why not do this to more modern houses and leave the beautiful character homes to people who will honor their past and TRULY restore them to their former glory. Where or where is Nicole Curtis!?!?
The remodels are huge jobs, it's interesting to see how they decided what to keep or toss. Day has tons of personality and does a great job taking you through her remodels. It's fun to see what goes into remodeling the homes. The reveal editing is very abrupt, with brief 3 second flickers of the final results. You have to ride the pause button to be able to truly see the work done in the final reveals. It would be interesting to see who the final home buyers are and what they think of their new homes, to see families actually in the home the end rather than the impersonal crowd at an open house.
An excellent edition to the house reality television formula. Finally a refreshing twist with a female host that is likable, knowledgeable, and is believable putting in a little elbow grease. I highly recommend this show.
