Notes from May 2018:
Plot and Setting: 4.67 -- Plot is engaging from start to finish, incorporating many unique elements and skillfully wielding the elements of story. An engaging, true-to-life romance, complete with reasonable conflicts and twists that kept me interested. There are no major plot holes, but a slight lack of focus and some shaky bits in sub-plots. Basically, there's one section where I didn't completely buy Anna's actions. Otherwise, great details and interesting realism. Setting and timeline are clear and consistent.
Characters: 5 -- Dynamic, relatable, realistic characters. I appreciated both Anna and Duncan, and could understand where they were both coming from, the things they worried about, and the things they enjoyed. I enjoyed that they knew each other in college, but that it wasn't all smooth sailing as they formed an actual relationship with each other. Minor characters are appropriately developed and have depth. Duncan's family members are interesting, and I appreciate the support and advice they give him (and Anna). The glimpses of her family are good as well, and Sean seems like a very good friend indeed. Hoping he stars in a book of his own at some point! The relationships between characters are varied, believable, and interesting.
Mechanics and Writing: 4.7 -- Few, if any, typos, punctuation issues, or word errors. Errors are the type that interrupt my reading without seriously hindering understanding -- silly typos, missing or misplaced punctuation, homophone or compound word confusion, formatting issues, etc. Intelligent use of POV. Alternates between Anna and Duncan. Skillful writing that adds to the story.
Redeeming Value: 4.67 -- Completely clean -- no violence, substance abuse, extramarital sex, or crude language. Some kisses and an appropriate amount of physical attraction, but no sex and no overemphasis on sexual attraction. Some positive themes and lessons. Anna and Duncan both prayerfully consider major life changes, and respond to the godly advice and suggestions of friends and family, as well as the nudgings of God's provision and direction. Duncan's challenge is accepting risk and the unknown; Anna's is more about believing in herself and owning the gifts and talents God has given her.
Personal Enjoyment: 5

As always Ms. Maddrey draws you into a story/series and it's hard to let go. It
Characters is a house. Enjoyed getting to know the parents too. The characters are interesting, growing, gaining in friendships and in relationship with the Lord. The sense of humor is a silver thread throughout. I enjoyed seeing the couples work together, sharing ideas and coping with different styles. Looking forward to reading the next Book especially knowing I’ll encounter characters from previous books!
