Angst and pain and pain and angst. Well... I can honestly say I've never cried so hard over an interactive fiction before... (And I cry easily and often.) The themes depicted in this book hit me in a *very* personal way that left me troubled. That said, the writing is stunning, the story is unique, and Ortega is a gem. I could just have used about 30% less angst and it would have been a 5* experience. Will almost certainly read the sequel anyway.
I enjoyed this game. It was a little slow at the beginning but I'm glad I stuck with it. I will probably get the next game when it comes out. The villain in this game is very complicated and has some really awesome powers. The backstory is a little confusing at first but makes sense at the end. I look forward to replaying the game.
You only get the first two chapters free. Like with every other choice of games or hosted games you only getva few chapters but then you have to pay. But I admit, the first two chapters were good but it sucks for poor people like me to only be able to read the first few chapters. And it was suchj a good cliffhanger! Now I'm sad.....
The imaginative setting and engaging writing in this are matched only by the compelling characters brought to life in this story. The fantastically paced story and choices presented kept me reading happily for hours on end. This is well worth your time to try and dollar for dollar it is an incredible return on the price to see the whole thing. I can't wait for the next installment and to see more from this phenomenal author.
A lot of choice games give you a bunch of options but it never feels like you actually change anything. This one though definitely does in ways i didn't expect. Yeah the outcome may be mostly the same, but the emotional weight is real.
