Nice show. Pretty standard late-teen super hero tropes at first, but hang in there. Once the characters start getting fleshed out a bit it starts veering in a some unexpected directions. It's taking it's time working out the relationship between the co-leads, which I appreciate, and still working on integrating the secondary characters. Printing a voodoo doll using a 3-D printer was a nice touch. Started at 3 stars, up to 3.5 by the Lotus Eaters, we'll see where it goes from here. I have my fingers crossed.
The show does move a little slower than the blockbuster comic movies people are apparently trying to compare it to. Cloak and Dagger has always been about the characters as flawed people, and connecting to those characters. While the origin story has been changed from the comics, it does still have the same sense of people being used by those more powerful than them. If you don't want to watch superheroes who struggle in ways that normal people do then this is probably not the show for you. It also builds on the slower side like any good political intrigue type media. So far, although the plot requires a little bit of patience to arrive, the dialgoue is well written and well acted. It is on the darker side, definitely not appropriate for small children, but not with the same overzealous violence as some of marvel's netflix shows. It's a good balance between real life as a teen and everything else.
Seasons 1 are typically entertaining. Secrets, reveals, good, evil. There isn't much effort into creating an entertaining season 1. This is no exception. Everything a first season should be. I care about the characters. There are a few surprises mixed in. And of course I'm anticipating the costume reveal. (Like WW stepping up from the trench, or Ironman dropping in the shiny metal suit.) C&D just got renewed for season 2. Let's see if they can keep it going.
Looking for a serious story from Marvel that is also well written, well paced, with drama and action to boot? Next to other greater MCUTV shows such as Legion and Daredevil, this show stands spectacularly on it's own and is a quintessential addition. The audience will relate to the characters, their growth, and their struggles.. with a bit of comic book fantasy seamlessly interwoven. A must watch for Marvel (MCU) fans!
As an old comic book fan I long ago accepted that changes in established lore are going to happen and just hope they deliver a good character story that is approximate to the original. That is exactly what this show does. Updated story concept and just the right amount of fan service. Just think of it as an alternate timeline version of the original Marvel characters.
They really took their time to develop these characters whose stories are somewhat different from the comics (1984) but similar enough to still give you goosebumps. The 10th episode was awesome and was well worth the ride. I hope they can manage to get their original costumes and have Ty’s cloak... well, do what i does. Also a great show for teens , lots to relate to including racism and bullying.
Not sure what people mean too dark for adults. Wow some people are just wimpy about programming. This show is amazing! And for people saying too slow, get some patience and get into something fun. This show is fun and thrilling.
