About this item
- ✓ Organic Ceremonial Grade Matcha from Japan – Our Organic First Spring Blend Matcha is what we recommend to beginners looking for a decent, all rounded organic ceremonial grade matcha that provides good value for the price.
- ✓ Mild, Mellow Taste Without Any Bitterness – A smooth yet mellow taste with notes of raw cacao makes this an excellent blend of matcha for matcha lattes, matcha teas or usucha. It has virtually no unpleasant bitterness or astringency.
- ✓ Organic Ceremonial Grade Matcha - Certified organic by JAS (recognised by USDA). Made from the First Harvest tea leaves from the hilly Kirishima region just outside of Kagoshima city. The tea plants are shade grown, processed into tencha at modern facilities and only ground into matcha powder right before it leaves Japan for the USA.
- ✓ Improve Your Focus, Boost Energy Without Coffee – Greatly increase your focus and energy by drinking Naoki Matcha. Unlike the typical caffeine rush from coffee, the amino acid L-theanine in Naoki Matcha slowly releases the caffeine which helps to relax the mind and body while providing a steady boost of energy for up to 6 hours.
- ✓ Proudly Made In Kagoshima - Uji and Kyoto may be the spiritual homes of matcha, but Kagoshima is rapidly growing as a producer of quality matcha. The volcanic soil in Kagoshima has a unique terroir and the tea estates’ there are willing to depart from tradition to create bold new tastes and flavors.

Here are some tips
- If you're new to matcha - start with either our Superior Ceremonial Blend or Organic Ceremonial Blend if you prefer an organic product. They are beginner-friendly blends that provide versatility and a great taste. These also work great for lattes!
- If you've sample many different matcha, you may find that you have "outgrown" the beginner friendly blends.
- For an enjoyable matcha tea, try our Fragrant Yame Blend. It's sweetness and smooth texture will make for a pleasing experience. If you are an advanced matcha enthusiast, do also consider try our Master's Collection matcha. Our favourite is the Masters Collection Chiran Harvest matcha.
- If you intend to drink matcha as a caffeinated pick-me-up for sleepy afternoons, why not try it as a cold brew. That simply means cold water and matcha mixed together. All our blends work well for this, but our Fragrant Yame matcha provides the mildest, smoothest flavors.
Benefits of matcha
Matcha provides a focused, mellow energy boost without jitters or the crash you normally expect from coffee.
This is due to naturally present L-theanine (an amino acid) and caffeine in matcha.
Matcha is also high in antioxidants, with a greater concentration compared to regular green teas.
Understanding matcha
Why do we describe matcha as "blends"?
Matcha is made from shade-grown tea leaves that is milled into a fine powder. The final taste of matcha depends on a tea master who will select different tea leaves for their taste attributes.
The tea master “blends” these leaves together to accentuate certain flavors so that he can achieve a final result that the customer will find enjoyable.
- The overall flavor objectives will vary by region.
- The classical “Kyoto” style matcha prizes balance and umami.
- In the south of Japan, many tea masters are known for producing lighter, sweeter matcha.
- Between good matcha, there is no single “best” flavor. It is a matter of individual preference.
- As the world learns to appreciate matcha, we expect more innovative flavour profiles to emerge.
Slow down and unwind with Usucha (traditional Japanese matcha tea)
Enjoy the classic frothy thin tea ("usucha") at home.
Use 1 tsp (2 grams) of matcha along with 3 oz of 170 degree F water.
Best made using a bamboo whisk.
If too you prefer it less strong, use 5 oz of water instead
The best way to make Matcha Latte (hot or iced) every morning
Create the base "matcha shot" with 1.5 tsp (3 grams) of matcha and 1 oz of water.
Mix vigorously until there are no more clumps. Add 6 oz of your favourite milk and add sweetener to taste.
This formula works for both hot and cold matcha lattes
How to make an easy Cold Brew Matcha for better energy
Add 1 tsp (2 grams) of matcha to 6-8 oz of cold water and mix. Adjust the amount of water according to your personal preference.
We easily make cold brew matcha at home and at work using bottles.
All you need to do is add matcha and water to a bottle and shake it up until the matcha is evenly mixed. Try this with coconut water instead of water for a real treat.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What makes Naoki Matcha different from other brands? We create blends with different tastes and preferences, each of our blends is developed to provide a unique flavor profile. For example, our Superior Blend has a very balanced, mellow flavor that's very beginner-friendly whereas our Fragrant Yame Blend has mild nutty notes and an incredibly smooth finish.
2. I only drink matcha with milk as a latte, which grade should I get? It depends how you make your lattes. However, we always recommend either the Superior Blend or First Spring Blend (Organic) to make great matcha lattes. By using an affordable ceremonial grade matcha, you do not need to add as much sweetener since it is much less bitter.
3. I’m worried about radiation and heavy metals. Do you test for radiation and heavy metals in your matcha? There is nothing to be worried about! We test each crop of matcha for various hazards, including radiation and heavy metal contamination. Satisfying these tests are required for our factories to maintain their food safety grading and licences needed to continue operations. The government of Japan also conducts its own separate radiation testing on all food products, and the results are consistently negative. The results are public information and is published in English on the website of the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
4. How is the caffeine in matcha different from coffee? Matcha provides a more measured, lasting energy boost. Matcha contains an amino acid called L-theanine. L-theanine is responsible for a calming effect which also slows the absorption of caffeine by the body, making the effects of coffee more gradual. Gram for gram, matcha has less caffeine than coffee.
5. How long can I keep my matcha for? If stored in an opaque, airtight container, matcha will remain fresh for about 12 months from the date it is ground. Once opened, we recommend consuming the matcha bag within 1-2 months. We also recommend storing your matcha in the fridge to maintain its freshness as long as possible.
6. What is the company’s policy for expiry dates? It depends but it is usually close to 6 months at least. We do our best to give you the freshest possible matcha by only doing small batch shipments direct from the tea estates. This is more costly for us but ensures that our stocks move quickly and provides the freshest matcha for you.
7. 40 grams or 1.4 ounces is TINY, how many servings? 40 grams easily provides 20 servings of 2 grams each. Pay attention to the serving size. We believe that 2 grams is just right to get enough matcha taste in your drink. Different brands define this differently. You may see a 30 gram matcha product offering "30 servings", but each serving is 1 gram.
8. Your packaging is beautiful! Where did you get it from? Thank you! We design it ourselves and it is inspired by the tea fields in Japan and the regional surroundings.

A solid matcha powder, beautiful green color. It has a slight bitter taste in milk, and mild taste and little creamy. Depending on the milk you're using, the matcha flavor doesn't really stand out, and if you're using flavored syrups, you probably won't taste much matcha anymore. I used Chobani Oatmilk and the flavor stood out more than when I was using Califa Barista. I only use around 10 mil of simple syrup in my matcha since I do like to taste the tea bitterness.
As thin tea (Usucha), the bitterness stands out but it's still really cream. Less astringent, and your tongue won't be dry after drinking.

The company reached out to me offering a full refund - and I suggested a replacement - which they processed immediately. Received the Matcha yesterday - and it is really good - I drink it iced - mixes well with cold water - very satisfied!
This product arrived on time - however the packaging was damaged - a hole in the pouch - machta everywhere - and it's a bit messy- gets all over everything and is difficult to clean.... pretty expensive product to have it spilled all over the inside of the shipping container.
