I watched because of Nathan Fillion hoping it would be good. It turned out better than good, it promises to be great. And even though my favorite actor is in the show, and I'm sure his star power will provide many viewers (just like me), this is an ensemble cast show with exceptional chemistry amongst the actors, writers, director, and producers. If the remainder of the season is as good as the pilot, The Rookie will make my top 10 list up there with Castle, Firefly, Justified, Warehouse 13...
Clearly, this is an outstanding show to 30 people so far, but there is something too naïve to the portrayal of the lead character. In real life, Nolan would have acquired more grit/street savvy or washed out of the Academy.
The other character portrayals are what makes it reasonably watchable for me.
i didn't even want to give it a star but in order to write a review...! This is a horrible show, typical of our political correct society, we have to make the older white guy look stupid! Where do they find these untalented young actors?
As a cop show junkie, I'm hard to please...but this show is different in its approach. The characters are captivating, right from the start, which says something about the high level of acting and well-written script. I'm hooked already, and looking forward to many more episodes -- I actually didn't think about anything else during the first episode, so this show holds your attention!
