About the author

Lorin Grace was born in Colorado and has been moving around the country ever since, living in eight states and several imaginary worlds. She holds a degree in Graphic Design which comes in handy with creating book covers.
Currently, she lives with her husband, children, and a dog who is insanely jealous of her laptop. When not writing, Lorin enjoys creating graphics, visiting historical sites, museums, painting furniture, and reading.
Three of her books, her debut novel, Waking Lucy(2017), Mending Fences (2018), and Not the Bodyguard's Baby (2020) have won Recommend Read awards in the League of Utah Writers Published book contest.
The favorite word she's ever written in a book is "decrescendo." She'd love to hear from you if you spot it.

I figured I'd enjoy this book, because I've enjoyed the other books by this author, but let me just say that I more than enjoyed this book. I can't stop thinking about this book, the characters, the storyline, the orphanage. All of the different aspects combined together created a beautiful story. I've followed this author's writings from her first book and am signed up for her newsletter. Last year she went on a trip to Haiti and shared many of the details with her newsletter followers. It was so neat. She has taken her experiences from that trip and her love of writing and added it into this book. I felt as if I was there with Araceli and Kyle, as well as all the volunteers, experiencing their time volunteering and helping at an orphanage in Haiti. The same time that I was reading this book I was visiting with some new friends who moved into my community and are from Nigeria. They (by themselves, not working under any organization) raise funds and take that money to orphanages and schools in Africa to help those in need. With the thoughts from this book and from my friends it has really helped me reflect on my willingness to help those in need. Of course that doesn't mean I need to go to some other country or do anything drastic but how can I make a difference and offer more to my community and neighbors around me in need. Just a little thought to put out there.
If you've read the previous two books in this series then you're in for a treat...there's lots of great scenes with the roommates. I love that. I love to see what's happening with characters that you've experience a book from their perspective and then you get to continue seeing into their 'happily ever after' so to speak. For those of you who haven't read the previous two books, I think you'd be fine reading this as a stand alone. There's enough explanation that you wouldn't be too confused with the roommates. But I honestly think if you have the time that you should read all the books, but most especially this one.
There were so many scenes that I just adored. I laughed a lot. I sighed a lot. I might have even held me breath and thought, "No, no, no, no, no, no, no that did not just happen. oh my heavens, no!" I can't explain why because it would mess it up. But I will say I have had that happen before and you just keep repeating 'no' as if you can't believe that happened. For those of you who are going to read this book, I think you will know exactly what scene I'm talking about when you get to it. Those of you who aren't going to read it, I'm sorry to not explain but I just can't. But I can say I loved how it turned out, I gave a big sigh of relief. I possibly even laughed a few times while I was repeating 'no'.
I could continue to write and express how much I loved this book and why but I'll stop with all of my rambling thoughts with this last thought. Araceli and Kyle, if I were rating top favorite book couples, would be in my top 10. I really enjoyed their backgrounds, their friendship, their personalities and I really, really enjoyed the chemistry between them. *happy sigh* This is definitely a series that I will be rereading and recommending to many people.
******Most of the proceeds of this book go to the orphanage that the author visited as well as a school that a group of amazing mothers work hard to pay for from the small means they have******
Content: Clean. Some moments of peril while the characters are in Haiti. No sexual scenes. I would let my teenage daughters read this (which my oldest was reading over my should and begging me to let her read it-she happened to be there when I was reading the 'no, no, no' scene.) ;-)
Happy Reading!!!
