He shattered her world. Can she trust him with her heart?
Giant spiders, walking trees, bloodthirsty vines.
For Jeneva, it's just another day trying to survive in the jungles of Ankau.
Until the sky ripped open, and the true monsters came through.
Now her world is under attack, and the only place of safety may be at the side of a rock-hard scaled alien.
But he's filled with secrets - how can she trust him?
Vrehx cares for nothing other than the destruction of the Xathi hordes who burned his home and killed his family.
But when a weapons test goes horribly wrong, the battle spills over to an uncharted world.
The planet is filled with lethal native life...but nothing is more dangerous than the human woman who obsesses his thoughts.
When war rages around them, can they fight together, or will his burning need for her drive them apart?
Vrehx is the first book in the science fiction romance series Conquered World. Each book is a stand-alone romance with protective alien warriors and women who don't put up with their nonsense. No cheating, no cliffhangers, HEA guaranteed!

About the author

Elin Wyn writes steamy science fiction romance, with lots of action and adventure.
Because nothing says romance like alien invasions, a few explosions, and lots of growly, possessive alpha males and their kick-ass mates!

Only, the weapon creates a huge rift in space, sending the Xathi, and the Vengeance, crashing onto a human colonized planet.
Vrehx and the others on the Vengeance are determined to eliminate the Xathi threat they accidentally released.
Jenever is a human who makes her living collecting things from the woods, when she runs into Vrehx and the others.
She’s the first person on the planet to speak with them, and learn to trust them. And with her help, they might just be able to stop the Xathi...
This is the first in a series of books featuring the crew of the Vengeance, and their enemy, the Xathi.
We are dropped into the middle of an ongoing war, and it appears to be an almost hopeless cause.
They’ve not mapped this part of the galaxy, and as far as I can tell, they haven’t run across humans before, either, so there is little chance that they will be able to leave easily.
The romance in the book is actually only a small part of the story. Although the two main characters get a ‘happily for now’, there was no real conclusion for them, because the overarching background plot is a huge part of the story.
That means, this book is best read as part of the series, and if not binge-reading, at least read together on a continuous streak!
Recommended primarily for sci-fi fans, and sci-fi romance fans.
Their Vrehx, one of the commanders of the vengeance, runs into Jeneva a human just trying to survive on a world where the trees hunt you and the spiders are pissed off. Their worlds collide, literally, as do their hearts, metaphorically.

I can definitely get behind this series that follows essentially a stranded ship of soldiers onto a planet that the humans have colonized where they’re fighting against another alien race who is bent on destruction and death. The characters are fairly interesting. The aliens are alien enough for the xenophiles but not so alien that they become too weird.
The over arcing plot is very sci-fi. Much in the vein of starship troopers meets Anne McCaffrey’s spacefaring series specifically the Rowan and Damia. It’s pretty clear that the rest of the series is going to be matching up the crew members of the vengeance with various human females while battling the Xathi.
The one thing I didn’t love was that in the beginning especially when there were too many earth idioms used by Vrehx and his crew. So I’m dropping it a half a star for that.
Ultimately this was fairly fun and a good start to the series.

Yesssssssss.
This book is absolutely up my alley. Jeneva and Vrehx snarl and growl at each other enough to make me grin. Jeneva doesn't have time for idiots and Vrehx's main mission is stopping the Xathi before they have to chance to annihilate another planet/people. He's single-minded and focused and Jeneva throws him all out of whack. In THE BEST way.
As for Jeneva, Vrehx's appearance on her planet it a shock, but he does bring her answers to questions she didn't know she needed to ask. She's smart enough to realize the aliens on Vrehx's ship might not know the dangers of her planet, but they're her people's only hope for survival against the Xathi horde.
A whole lot of danger (both from the planet and the invading aliens), plenty of lingering looks, a few bloody battles, and the set-up for what looks like it's going to be an epic series. I am so in.

I didn't really love the h, but she was okay. I was dismayed at the portrayal of women in this book. Most of them were straight up stereotypes. There was the troubled loner, the bitch, the shrinking violet and, oh yes, the other bitch.
.
I had reservations about the h in the second book, but read the first chapter at the end of this one.. I wanted to give her a chance to redeem herself from the absolute cow she was in the first book. She didn't. I am sure as the book went on her motivation for behaving like a mean, selfish, one dimensional diva would be explained, but she gave me nothing to root for or care about.
I don't think I will read any of the others in this series.
