Several years after No More Heroes 2... This time, the setting is a small town in the middle of nowhere in the American South. Badman shows up at the trailer Travis has been living in to exact revenge for the murder of his daughter, Bad Girl, and things go horribly wrong. As they battle it out, the two are sucked into the game world of the legendary game console, the Death Drive MkⅡ. Travis Strikes Back with this No More Heroes “Gaiden”

First of all, this is a spin-off of the No More Heroes franchise and it has been stated since the first Nintendo Direct of the Switch. This game is packed with a couple indie inspired mini games with their respective Suda51 style. The mini games are good and I recommend it play it in hard if you want a good challenge. Even if it’s not a main game, it give you enough info of what happens after NMH2 and this title (no spoilers, sorry). Is short, but really fun to play. Really recommend it if you enjoy the NMH, but remember THIS IS NOT A MAIN GAME ON THE FRANCHISE. So don’t blame the work of Suda51 or Grasshopper Manufacture for it

Great value and story for a fraction of the usual price

In what is seemingly fortunate for me, I haven't played either of the first two No More Heroes games. I don't really have that much exposure to Suda51 and Grasshopper in general for that matter. When it comes to this game though, whether you're paying 30 without the season pass or 40 with, it's pretty impressive what you're getting.

To disclaim, I haven't finished it yet (I'm assuming I'm about halfway) but early impressions are pretty great so far. Though the game is relatively simple from a game play perspective, it tends to be really enjoyable. It's to the point where I don't mind retreading older areas to find secrets. To put it simply, it's a simplified version of Diablo 3, which I'm personally totally down with.

While playing it is fun, this game really shines when you're going through the dialogue. Despite my lack of prior knowledge on Travis Touchdown and No More Heroes, I love reading what every character has to say. Even the side info that you get between missions, which is something I never really bother to read in other games, is something to look forward to. What really impresses me so far is that the game is actually funny. Where a lot of games tend to fail at being even remotely entertaining in their dialogue, Travis Strikes Again manages to entertain even when on paper it shouldn't. What I'm referring to is the self referential, 4th wall breaking humor that would be cringe worthy in most other games. This game does it incredibly well from what I've played.

For a budget game, this games visuals are just fine for what they're worth. The games performance is about the same between the Switch being locked and in handheld mode, which has been pretty smooth for both. However, one specific thing really put a damper on this aspect for me. During my third boss fight, the game unfortunately cut away from the fight into this weird blank void, so I couldn't see what I was doing. I had to restart the boss fight after waiting to die for a good few minutes. It wasn't major that time around, but bugs like that can really sour the experience after the game has been working well up until that point.

Despite that unfortunate bug, this is a really well made, entertaining game that costs a fraction of what most other games cost at launch. I'll return to this review after I'm finished with the game, but as of now I highly recommend picking this up. I hope this is successful enough for a third official game, or even a rerelease of the first two games

I was extremely excited for a new No More Heroes game, but I wish I had passed this one by. It's a hack and slash game with a very simplistic combat system and repetitive, boring enemies. The majority of the levels feel like the grinding hallway battles in parts of the previous games, except the boss battles aren't inspired enough to motivate you to finish the level. The majority of the plot is delivered via an non-interactive text crawl. In a series where off-the-wall creativity always shined, this feels rote.

This is supposed to be a reduced-price test game to see if No More Heroes 3 would be viable, but I can only recommend picking this up if you find it on sale for much less. Instead of making me excited for a possible sequel, I'm now less interested and I'll be waiting for the reviews before I buy it.

On the plus side, the music is great and there are still some bright spots of weirdness, like the design of the game console and a lot of the dialogue. Travis can put on t-shirts with logos from other indie games - but your money would be better spent on any of those.

Travis Touchdown is back! It's great to see this game return after the first two no more heroes game were released in the past because no one thought Suda 51 studio would make a new no more hero game. This game is an absolute BLAST to play and not only is it fun to play, this game is LOADED with tons of content along with tons of replay value. The craziest part about this game is the fact that the price is only $39.99 which ALSO included a season pass! Even if this game was being sold for $59.99 I would still end up paying for it. If you have not played the first two no more heroes games, then don't worry about it because this game is still enjoyable to jump right on without having to worry about events from the first two games. Anyways, I've already clocked in about 18 hours so far into this game and I'm STILL playing this game! Also, there will be two planned DLC content coming in the course of the next 2-3 months. The first one is due at the end of February while the 2nd part of the DLC is set to release in near the end of April. Whenever you finish the entire game by completing it 100%, you're still going to return to this game when the two add on DLC content is released. I'm not going to reveal everything that this game has to offer because it will ruin the fun of what you will expect from this game when playing. Trust me, avoid watching youtube playthrough videos or trailers because it will easily spoil you with all the unique different gameplay genres that the game will showcase. Sadly, 95% of the gamers that buy this game will already have wasted countless amount of time watching and being spoiled by the game via youtube. Anyways, do yourself a favor by picking up this game and just play the game without expecting what will unfold throughout the game. I recommend picking up the game and season pass version since it's a freaking bargain. You won't be disappointed by this game unless you're one of the 90% of "gamers" that play call of duty 24-7. If you are, then don't bother playing this game and go back to playing your typical CoD or Madden "games" since those type of "games" are the same copy/paste "games" every year.

Ok, como fan de NMH creo poder dar una opinion en basea mi experiencia como jugador.
1. El juego NO ES NMH3, mucha gente puede pensar esto (no sé porque, el mismo Suda lo dijo en entrevistas). ES UN SPINOFF, sin embargo a lo largo de lo que he jugado, si que nos dan información acerca de algunos eventos que pasaron a lo largo de esos 7 años, (por ejemplo, ¿nadie se ha preguntado que paso con Beef Head despues de lo ocurrido en el segundo juego?) eventos que talvez no sean super impactantes o "interesantes" como para sacar la continuacion del juego, pero son datos que talvez puedan ayudar a complementar el siguiente juego (si es que las ventas que espera Suda se logren) y usar ese espacio para centrarse en la historia principal.
2. Gameplay, como ya dije, no se relaciona con la historia principal NI TAMPOCO con el gameplay, la jugabilidad que se tenía en NMH2 para combinar ataques bajos/altos, corte carrera, llaves de lucha,intercambiar katanas,etc, ya no estan. Ahora vemos desde una "vista aerea" y contamos con otros ataques, para este punto no quiero extenderme porque creo que sería mejor que buscaras en YT un gameplay del juego para que sepas de lo que hablo, solo te puedo mencionar que no esperes algo como en los dos primeros juegos.
Esta idea no me desagrada, de hecho me gusta la idea de tener que adoptar una nueva forma de juego a la que ya estabamos acostumbrados, no es por intentar chuparle las bolas al juego, pero creo que como jugadores deberiamos intentar todo tipo de gameplay, no solo centrarnos en jugar titulos que sean "Hack and Slash", espero darme a entender...
No es mala la jugabilidad, es diferente y a mi punto de vista, bueno. Si tu eres de llevarte la switch a la universidad, viaje, con amigos, etc. el modo de 2 jugadores sera perfecto, al no ser tan difíciles los controles cualquiera puede jugar sin dificultad y pasar un buen rato. (Yo lo he probado con unos amigos en la universidad :D)
3. Historia, la descripcion de la trama es sencilla, nos aventuramos en la diabolica consola de videojuegos Death Drive Mark II, en un principio pense que se trataba de solo sobrevivir a los diferentes videojuegos, pero mientras vas jugando te das cuenta que no solo es eso. Es entretenida la historia y a su vez vas empapandote de datos curiosos de lo que ha pasado en esos 7 años, no puedo decir que es mejor que los primeros titulos pero si es buena (digo esto porque es un spin off, no debemos ser muy duros para tacharla como una caca)
4. Personalizacion, aqui si se queda muy corta, solo podemos intercambiar las playeras de nuestros personajes
5. Tiempo de carga, en este punto no puedo mentirles, TARDA mucho en cargar el juego, si hacemos una comparacion entre el juego y smash ultimate, smash carga mas rapido la pantalla de título que travis, es punto negativo por el cual no le estoy dando una calificacion excelente. Desconozco de los datos tecnicos del juego y eso pero no entiendo porque tarda demasiado en cargar pantalla de titulo, los diferentes juegos, etc. deberian arreglarlo
6. Escencia, hay elementos que intentan no hacer perder la escencias de NMH, por ejemplo, ir al baño cuando guardas la partida (algo que me gusto es que ahora los baños podrian considerarse como puntos de control, asi tengo la opcion de ir directamente al jefe, iniciar el juego desde el inicio, mitad del juego, etc.), la gatita jeane que al parecer esta teniendo mas papel en el juego, nuestra moto, recargar la katana como si estubieramos ahorcando la nutria, el humor acido y negro, entre otros.

Esta reseña que estoy dando esta incompleta (ya que no he acabado el juego y pretendo dar algo mas completo cuando salgan los dlc y me termine al 100 el juego, junto con esos easter eggs que nos han puesto), pero pretendo con eso que acabo de opinar puedas animarte a comprar el juego, no llegara a la altura de los dos primeros titulos pero para ser un spin off creo que lo esta haciendo bien.
Recuerda que las ventas de este dependeran para que Suda51 decida si continuar con el tercer titulo, que tu querias un port, remaster a la switch de los dos primeros, yo no le veo mucho caso (mejor enciendo la wii y los juego) ademas, creo que hubiera sido mas dificil poder realizar esa tarea por el asunto del dinero.
Dale la oportunidad de comprarlo, de momento solo me que quejado en que tarda al momento de cargar y que se queda corto al personalizar solo con playeras. Planeo volver a opinar cuando hallan liberado los dlc.

Un pequeño y entretenido hack & slash/beat em up

Eso mismo. Como ya dijeron otras reseñas, esto no es No More Heroes 3. Es un spinoff.
El juego cuenta con diversos escenarios bastante lineales en los que derrotaremos a oleadas de enemigos. No hay mucha ciencia en esto. Los escenarios tienen escondidos "chips" para equiparnos con ataques especiales, y monedas aztecas para adquirir ropa.
Lo que más me gustó del juego son los jefes finales de cada escenario. Son muy creativos y dificiles (no todos) de vencer. Además, al vencer un jefe, nos dan una nueva habilidad que tiene que ver con ellos.
Los artículos de videojuegos y ramen que se leen en la casa de Travis son excelentes y muy graciosos.

Es posible jugar con 2 jugadores. Muy recomendado con un amigo.

Quienes gusten de la saga de NMH encontrarán algo entretenido o curioso en este juego.
Quienes no conozcan de Travis, les recomiendo checar un gameplay para ver si es de su agrado este género.

El juego es como un “side story” de la linea se tiempo general de No More Heroes. Es entretenido, adictivo y es un tributo con muchos detalles de videojuegos.

Con todo el estilo y humor que caracteriza a los desarrolladores los dialogos son entretenidos de leer. En cada nivel puedes encontrar la pasión de los programadores que tienen hacia los videojuegos. Dentro de los menús y textos del juego hay detalles interesantes de encontrar y cargados con humor.

Sin embargo no es un juego para todos, hay quienes se pueden sentir decepcionados por el estilo de combate pues es un Beat’em up! simple, lineal y con vista aerea. Un juego corto, repetitivo pero entretenido.

Como fan de la saga para mi es imperdible, pero para los nuevos les quiero decir que esto no es No More Heroes en su ejecución, en esencia si lo es, pero los ya veteranos sabemos que es sólo la antesala a un mejor juego.

Es No More Heroes y me tiene jugando, lo recomiendo al 80%

En resumen: es un juego que sólo los fans podrán disfrutar. Los combos y la jugabilidad son muy entretenidos al jugar cooperativo, pero siendo un solo jugador la verdad es que el juego se siente repetitivo (aunque de hecho lo sabe y sabe que lo sabes y bromea con ello) sin embargo detrás de un juego algo tedioso, se ocultan detalles, referencias y respuestas a preguntas no sólo de la trama de NMH, sino de otros universos de SEDA51, además el humor y las situaciones extrañas de Suda están a la orden del día, lo cual es un buen motivo para seguir jugando hasta el final, definitivamente si estás esperando NMH3 como yo, este juego es obligatorio porque explica cosas que ocurrirán en la secuela, pero si no eres fan de los trabajos del señor, entonces no es un juego muy divertido que digamos
