Big cat

I have a large 18-lb cat, so it was hard to find a suitable backpack. This one has plenty of room and he's comfortable in it. It also holds up well for such a large cat. My only complaint, and this goes for all similar pet backpacks, is that the shoulder straps have minimal padding. I'd love to see a pet pack made like a high-quality rucksack with thick padded shoulder straps and even a padded waist belt. The pockets on this are adequate but I'd love to see accessory loops or even MOLLE straps. I'll always keep my eye out for something I would call rugged, but for now this will do.

I’m buying this for a flight in a couple weeks, &I have to walk to the vet before then too, so I thought a backpack combo might be nice. So far my cat (3yrs 8.5lbs) fits in it snuggly, she can sit upright w/o being cramped &Laying down is fine too. I put her favorite blanket in there too just bc another review mentioned how there wasn’t enough padding, so it was just for comfort. There was no problem getting her in since she’s used to carriers, but some treats &Her blanket probably helped too. Will update after the flight.By Dolores Benavente on May 31, 2019

The back is padded on both sides, making it comfortable for both pet and owner when used as a backpack.
My 8-pound orange cat has plenty of room, and sleeps in it every night. It is just big enough my 14-pound cat can also use it, and still have a little wiggle room. A tall or long cat would need more space.

This carrier holds its shape very well, used either as a backpack or tipped on its back and used as a more typical carrier. The top flap is reinforced with a sturdy frame all around the rim. The vertical seams along the front both contain removable rods, allowing the carrier to maintain its shape. The back, lower doors, and removable base are rigid. The base is held in place with Velcro, so it stays put when the backpack is laid on its back. Not the right size for a miniature doxin

Shane really did not want to leave the backpack but could not quite fit unless with his head popping out like in the photo. I think what I am going to do it buy a shorter version of this backpack that is a bit wider. So! If you're looking for a doxin it is not quite the right size, but still a very well made backpack.

Holds our 20 pound French bulldog. She’s one year old and kind of small for a Frenchie. So if your Frenchie is any bigger than 19/20 pounds I don’t recommend it. But she can curl up in the bottom or she can stand. Her head doesn’t really fit out of the top but she can see a little and there’s ventilated screen areas around. Wish it had more pockets and was a little bigger(it looks bigger in pictures than in real life). It can be uncomfortable for the plastic piece hitting your back so you will have to adjust it to sit lower on your back. Overall, it seems good for traveling and walking around in airports. The fleece cushion is very soft and nice. And the carrier is able to bend so surely it will fit under airport seats.

Used it this carrier to pick up my puppy. Went on long outdoor walks with it, and also flew back home via Westjet. The carrier can be squished down (bend the top metal wires a little, and remove the bottom board). Still very sturdy and puppy slept through in it at hotel and during the flight.Reviewed in Canada on August 1, 2021
Another tip is to choose seats right behind the business class so there is more under seat room, and window seat was wider than middle and aisle seats.

Only downside about it is it's a bit smaller then expected, so my boys are kind of "smushed" when they are in it, but they also seem to love it (in the pics, I found them that way, didn't put them in it myself... they actually waited their turns to try it out) and it seems really comfy! I really like how the zippers are lockable.
Even though there is a "leash" in it, I do use my normal leash that I put through one of the side zippers, just to make me feel more secure about it, as the one in the bag is kind of flimsy.

She's loving it so far and so am I. I chose this backpack over others because of the colour (purple), and I wanted a backpack that had multiple openings. Having used this for a week now, I am also glad I went with this because the mesh is located perfectly for my cat, and doesn't reach all the way to the bottom of the backpack, making it warmer for her and allowing her to be hidden if she wants. I'm personally not going to rely on the leash attached to the backpack and just use my own. The lack of lumber support is bugging me but I'm going to attach some cushion there to make it easier on my lower back.Reviewed in Canada on February 24, 2021
Definitely make sure you do your research and give your pet time to get used to the backpack before going outside. Can't wait till it's summer and I can take her on walks!
