About this item
Engineered for iPhone XS Max, the Smart Battery Case gives you even longer battery life while offering great protection. Inside, a soft microfiber lining helps protect your iPhone. And on the outside, the silky, soft-touch finish of the silicone exterior feels great in your hand. A soft elastomer hinge design makes it easy to put the case on and take it off.
The Smart Battery Case is compatible with Qi-certified chargers. You can charge your iPhone and battery case simultaneously for increased talk time up to 37 hours, Internet use up to 20 hours, and even longer audio and video playback.* With the Smart Battery Case on, the intelligent battery status is displayed on the iPhone Lock screen and in Notification Center, so you know exactly how much charge you have left.
The case can be charged even faster with USB-PD compatible chargers. It also supports Lightning accessories, such as the EarPods with Lightning Connector (included with your iPhone), or the Lightning Digital AV Adapter (sold separately).

Car play

The number one reason I got this is for the CarPlay. I love how Apple finally made a good looking battery case. The only downside is there’s no on or off button so you can’t control when it charges your phone. It just charges your phone all the time. If you want a battery case with Apple CarPlay this is the only way to go. The texture of the case is also awesome in the durability.
Best purchase as an accessory for my iPhone XS Max. First off, the main purpose of this case is to keep the internal battery component of your phone charged. The case itself would last me anywhere between 5-6hrs of use, and about 8-10hrs on standby.
For those who are complaining about there being no on and off switch, that isn’t the main focus of this case.
The internal battery health runs off cycles. (1 cycle = 100% drained down to 10-20% battery percentage.) The general life span of the new iPhones are stated to have an estimated 500-600 full cycles before the battery health starts to deplete, therefore less time/usage on a full charge.
By this standard, I have kept my phone almost fully charged (80%+) every day since I have purchased my XS Max. I have had the phone for about 8 months now and the battery health remains at 100%.
Long story short, if you want your iphone’s battery health to last, simply keep it charged above 80% at all times.
No, there is no worry for overcharging because the phone is optimized to prevent that from damaging the battery.
This is what makes this product so great. My phone stays fully charged, and the overall health of my iphone’s internal battery remains at 100%.
Cons: The case adds some weight, but if you’re daily routines don’t require you to be active/ lugging your phone around, this isn’t really a con.
Pros: Had the case for about a month now, silicone held up fine so far. Not having to charge my phone is huge. Charging my phone while in the case overnight and I go to work with both 100% on both my battery case and my internal iPhone battery and I leave work with my phone still at 100%.
Conclusion: worth the money if you have the budget for it. Main take away, keep your iPhone battery health at 100% if you plan on keeping your phone for a few more years.
I’ve had this case for over a month and am very pleased with it. The case is very comfortable and has a good grip to it. I cannot attest to the silicone peeling that another user mentioned. My case is still in tact from the day I purchased it. This case charges your phone constantly and keeps it at 100% until the battery in the case is depleted. I have no issues with the way Apple has designed this. Apple stated that this does not cause your phone’s battery to degrade over time and I haven’t experienced a decrease in my phone’s battery health from this. It’s a SMART battery case so it’s been designed in a way where it doesn’t compromise your phone’s battery over time. There are a few gripes I have with this case: 1. It’s a hit or miss when wirelessly charging my phone in this case. It’s tricky to find that right spot on the wireless pad that will charge the case because of the bumper on the back of the case. There were days when I woke up the next day and one or the other was not charged...now I just use direct wire charging. 2. The case has gotten hot a few occasions. I just take my phone out and give it a break to cool down.
Overall this is a nice battery case. I keep my phone in this all the time and like that it serves as as an added layer of protection and a battery. I use my phone a lot and this case can get me to the end of my 9 hour work shift and I’ll still have 100% of my phone’s battery to run through.
Super value, especially after Amazon marked it down to $108 from $150.
Reasons I like having this case: double battery life lets me use my phone as a personal hotspot for hours a day; I don't have to leave my phone on my desk or in my office to charge during the day; it provides good protection from damage; its got a nice hand-feel (its obviously a little bit heavier than a regular battery-free case, but the slight increase wasn't a deal-breaker for me, personally); the buttons have enough resistance that the phone doesn't get turned on, start taking pictures, or "asking Siri" while hanging out in a backpack or purse or pocket, but are soft enough to press that it's not a pain to use them.
Reason for not liking the case: the outside finish looks good and feels nice, but its hard to keep it clean (actually or just in appearance). Its a matte, satin-feel case, so it scuffs easily, collects visible dirt and dust, and can get tiny particles embedded in it that make it look a little worn. Cleaning it is easy enough (try to avoid using towels that leave little lint particles behind).
Final thought: fussy aesthetic was not enough of a deal-breaker for me, but if you care about your phone case looking 100% all the time, it might annoy you.
Love the whole idea. This battery case literally gets me through the day, and I love that it provides drop protection, and I don’t have to use a special cord. Only the Apple charging cord. It’s a fantastic idea. The warranty is for 1 year, and mine quit working at about 1 year and a month. 2 cases in a row have done the same thing. The connector just stops making contact, and won’t communicate with the phone, rendering it useless. The silicone outer protection also peels off, with is annoying. A corner of the case broke off because the silicone failed, and I dropped my phone and it cracked. So the drop protection part failed too.
So, while this is an awesome product, it only works well for about a year. (I’m also pretty rough on products, for the record. Other people who are gentler, May have had different results.) I would buy another one though, because I can’t get through the day on just a phone charge. And I like that this case is one, integrated piece.
