Pretty Cool (but don't buy if you are an audiophile)

This really is an amazing technological achievement, a player with almost everything you could want jammed into this tiny footprint! But to me, that "almost" carries a lot of weight. With all of the bells and whistles they decided to pack in this thing, they decided to leave out an adjustable equalizer! Really? A high resolution player with without a graphic equalizer is crazy. It should be a crime. The people who want high resolution players instead of just using their phone would definitely want a graphic equalizer. If I were you company that rhymes with "handling", I'd get somebody on that firmware update! Oh, and by the way, those EQ presets are HORRIBLE. Somebody with a tin ear came up with those.

UPDATE: I contacted “Handling” about the lack of an adjustable equalizer. They are in the process of working that into the firmware for the M0. I will let you know when that happens. Until it does, I don't think I can recommend the purchase of this player, unless you don't care about adjusting your music to where you like it for specific headphones. If this is the case, I can't imagine why you are buying a high resolution player.

UPDATE 2: Still no equalizer. Apparently, they don't care about people who want to adjust their music as long as sales are good. Honestly, if you care about doing this, don't bother with this player. That is my honest opinion. It is now sitting in my desk drawer gathering dust.

The single most exciting Hi-Fidelity Stereo item in my lifetime. Truly enjoyable to listen to in the aptX Bluetooth mode. Hard to believe I can fit my entire library of 257 FLAC files onto it with room to spare. I put a 400gb card inside. I paired it to an Auris blueMe Bluetooth receiver, hooked it up to a really good stereo (old Harman Kardon, JBL) system. It sounds so good I purchased another (and some more as gifts) I am setting up another system with an M0 and bluMe. I like the way it looks too, both in and out of the case. Only one negative criticism so far is that the album art is blurry. It still works for me, just that it's blurry. The fact that it can even produce album artwork and handle everything else pretty flawlessly and quickly is in itself an accomplishment in such a small package.

It is the sound that is the most remarkable aspect about the M0. I like the sound so much that I am probably going to replace or keep swapping a Pioneer XDP-100R out until I finally decide. In the "Rock" EQ mode, hookeed up to the Auris, it feeds an incredibly clear Bluetooth and high-voltage signal to my stereo. That helps with RF transmission where I have an old RCA wireless speaker transmitter hooked up to the HK stereo and gives a very satisfying sound. Hard to believe anything so tiny can work so well as to me liking it that much. Outstanding product.

A Fantastic Little Portable

**Update: 4/23/2019** The little portable is still running strong, however AptX HD support has been nix'd. As a side note, the M0 has a 0.3 Ohm output impedance, meaning it's usable with IEMs like the Massdrop Plus and Campfire Andromeda without an IEMatch. Firmware updates have also come out since the review improving usability further. Absolutely ZERO complaints.

I can't sing this little thing's praises enough. For $110 it's a deal in my opinion.

Used to push standard and hi res flac to my Sennheiser HD 58X's and my T50RP's. This will bring the T50 to a listenable volume for me around 80% and borderline too loud at 100. Though it does have a low power output, it can be used with a portable DAC/AMP like the Fiio Q1 Mark II, which I've successfully used with Fiio's MicroUSB to USB-C Cable.

Beyond that, scrolling with the 2.1 Firmware is smooth and responsive, though scrolling can cause it to go way too fast through your library, it's not the biggest problem.

Did you read the description? Did you see all that Bluetooth stuff? Sony LDAC and aptX HD? Yeah, that's freaking fantastic. I have used it with LDAC from my Pixel and it sounds pretty effin' good. One downside that I didn't think would work, was that I could NOT use it as a Bluetooth transport to make, say the Q1 Mark II into a Bluetooth DAC/Amp, at least not over USB. It can of course be plugged into the output jack, which, the M0 does offer the option for Line Level (called Max Volume) on the output for such occasions.

I basically love this little thing, working as a portable DAC/Amp is basically just gravy. It can be used as an SD Adapter as well so you can just pop a Micro SD card in and plug the whole device into your computer. Pretty nice! I think the DAC in this sounds pretty decent, especially for the price. Believe it's the same Sabre Chip from the LG V30's Quad DAC. I think Shanling has done a great job isolating it and I can't personally hear any excess noise from any of my full size headsets, nor my Sennheiser IE 80's.

As an entry level product, with USB-C, USB-Audio-Out, DAC/Amp Mode, SDXC up to 512GB, and it's general usability and portability plus the Bluetooth? Ugh! This thing is fantastic. Even the battery life, which not only lasts me all day (probably 5 hours or so of straight usage at 80%+ Volume), it's saved me 2-3 phone charges per day using this instead of my Pixel.

If you're interested and it's your first portable, AND you're not willing to go ham on a DAP quite yet, just buy this! It's fantastic value for money. Just buy it!

Tiny 1.5 inch device!
Came with version 1.5 firmware (current); and as they add or fix features you can update the firmware. Click wheel is configurable slightly.
Make sure to 'update' your library from the settings menu after adding music to the microSD card as the folder menu is not ideal to browse your music as text doesn't currently scroll. The library menu is where things shine and even though the device is extremely small the interface responds quickly. I have no trouble finding my music and moving around the menus. There is very little to complain about for what this device does.
6 different bluetooth codecs and pairing was painless to my phone and soundcore 2.
I've yet to try the DAC mode, but this device does everything I need and has amazing sound. EQ modes were quickly tried and are easy to access while music plays, but I kept going back to using none. 5 star for the price, desire to not have a 2nd large screen device in my pocket for hi-res music and the ability to complement my phone.
